Last night, I explained my issue with the appliances in my apartment failing (washing machine dying, AC leaking water, kitchen light not completely bolted to ceiling). We left the AC off last night, in case it WAS our AC, and not a leak from upstairs (and it was us). Thankfully, since we didn't cut it off until around 9pm, it stayed cool enough for me to sleep through the night without getting unnecessarily hot. I even managed to get up when my alarm went off, so that I had breakfast before I left for work today (a feat I haven't accomplished in days).
Getting to work, I set to doing my usual End of Day accounting paperwork, counting tills, and getting things ready for the business day. Shortly after I got there, though, I was struck by a *serious* craving for English toffee in chocolate. Minutes later, I was munching a Heath Bar happily. Things actually went rather well today, generally speaking. Oh sure, I had to deal with a crazy lady on U-Scan (I swear, she really is), who couldn't operate it, but didn't want help, and even went so far as to say, "You're stinky!" from her place at the farthest U-Scan from the cashier podium. It's not just me, though. Several other daytime people have said that she's batty, too, so I'm just going to try to stay out of her way, being polite (if not friendly) when I have to interact with her.
Getting home, I noticed that nothing had been done about the AC/washing machine issues. However, a repairman showed up not long after I got in, and proceeded to fix the AC. He was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about his job (I got that he is the property's resident expert on HVAC). When he got the AC working, he fixed the light in the kitchen, after which I shook his hand, thanking him profusely for taking care of those issues. I called my mom, and spoke to her while making dinner. We decided to go to early voting on Thursday while I do some laundry at her house (while I hope that my washing machine will be fixed, I see no reason to tempt fate, and I need clothes for work on Friday). I'm not going to hold my breath, but I hope that we finally get rid of King Willie this time.
EDIT: He wasn't assigned the washing machine repair job, so I didn't feel right asking him to fix it (he sounded like he had enough HVAC stuff to do as it was).
I've spent the afternoon watching TV with
strieson (and later, with
mfsfreak as well), and realized something: I need a hobby. :) Seriously, I was down on myself about always wasting time on World of Warcraft, but I spent as much time tonight sitting in front of the TV. While Scrubs and Family Guy are great, I don't want to be a slave to the TV either. I'm not trading one master for another. Speaking of World of Warcraft, my recent trip down memory lane via those screenshots has awakened feelings of nostalgia that had me wanting to play again tonight. I got up and watched TV with my roommate and his cousin until the feeling subsided.
Now, I'm going to get some sleep, for no other reason than I'm tired from being up all day, and I have no real reason to stay up. :) I have plenty to do tomorrow, anyway (gonna finish wet-vaccing the carpet and do some picking up around my room and the apartment; oh, and I should probably get my hair cut, too).
