This week, my days off wound up being back to back on Wednesday and Thursday. While I'm not fond of it ALWAYS being this way (because the 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off model keeps me from burning out more than 5 on, 2 off), I definitely am pleased that it's this way this week.

When I have an off day, I have a really hard time doing things that Need To Be Doneā„¢ if I know I have to go back to work the next day. Thus, I'm most productive when I get these pairs of off days. After all, even if I spend all of day one cleaning/doing errands, I still have day two to loaf around. Today was just such a day one.

I woke up around 930a, thinking that I was supposed to be at work (another downside to working 5+ days in a row -- you forget that you have days off). I got up anyway, reading web pages while eating breakfast. Then, I got down to business. Completely without meaning to, I began to clean the apartment from front to back. It's not filthy, but I was unhappy with its level of cleanliness.

I took a couple of short breaks, but was done completely by 330pm or so. I vacuumed, dusted, mopped, swept, washed, and scrubbed. I even got on my hands and knees to get the baseboards, which were looking a little dirty. I grabbed my model paint, and painted in the "7" on our apartment door, since I was tired of looking at the faded paint and rust. After everything was squeaky clean, I took out two bags of garbage in the middle of the storm that blew through Memphis this afternoon. Hehe.. I *love* playing in the rain. Of course, I didn't play this time, but walking to the dumpster with two bags of trash and no umbrella/raincoat isn't a sign that I wanted to stay dry, though.

Now, I'm showered, the clean dishes are put away, the iced tea is made, and dinner's simmering on the stove, almost ready to eat. Here's to a productive day!! :)

It's ironic that I should post a game-related quiz, given where my thoughts turned afterward.

I've been thinking lately about gaming as one of my hobbies, EDIT: Cut for length )

That might be the direction I need to go. Round up some brave souls, and assemble a Dragonlance game again. The question, of course, is what system to use: AD&D 2e, D&D 3e, or Castles & Crusades. Well, that can wait. First, I should do some brainstorming, and see if this idea holds up to my own scrutiny.

* - I brainstormed my character names rather easily back in the day. "Elmontalas" came from Simon Belmont of Castlevania fame, and "Lazarin" came from Lanzar, a brand of car speakers.
** - I don't think we EVER used only 3d6, but I know that once or twice, we did 5d6, drop the two lowest.
