tek2way: (Dragonlance - Fizban)
So, today was my day off, and I did nothing. Odd, though, that doing nothing leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, now. :( I woke up early, and attempted to get on Thunderlord, to do some farming, because I want my epic mount, and I only have 510g to go toward the 900g cost. (And no, I am not going to buy gold to get it done. Even if Blizzard hadn't banned all those accounts yesterday, I still think I will enjoy having my mount more if I buy it with money I earned myself.)

Unfortunately, Thunderlord was down, as was every single server that I had a toon on. So what did I do? Made a toon on a new server. I created an Orc Hunter named Naarn on Crushridge, and played him until he was level 6. Quite fun.  By then, Thunderlord was back up, and I went to do some farming. There were allies everywhere, already. *sigh* I wound up fishing off the coast of Azshara, attempting to hit that elusive 300 Fishing skill. Finally, I was too tired to stay up, so I took a nap.

I woke two hours later (after having a weird dream involving a massive world-wide disaster that had people LEAVING Earth to escape it, and I was one of the ones left on the planet to keep things calm), and got to talking to [livejournal.com profile] nyminal over AIM/MSN (re: Trillian). We got on the subject of the game idea I have for my next game. I'm taking my time developing the world and the story, because I want to see it done right this time. However, I am anoyed at how magic is handled in D&D (as I mentioned in my post on Monday). I made an off-hand comment that I want "d20 done up in Shadowrun style," where it's levelless and classless, with the abilitiy to customize things greatly. That's when it hit me.

I'd seen an advertisement on ENWorld the other day about soemthing that sounded very similar. Thirty minutes of searching revealed Buy the Numbers, by S.T.Cooley Publishing. I wasn't sure if the author did a good job, but $5 was cheap enough to convince me to risk it. I was not let down. In fact, it's a fantastic system. I find it FAR more appropriate for what I wanna do with characters now (totally freeform.. everything is bought, from Hit Die to Feats to Skills to Class Abilities) than regular D&D. It's going to work fine, even if I don't modify it some, to accomodate a different spellcasting system.

I ran Molten Core with my guild tonight, too. I have 113 DKP, and since I can now spend DKP, and have DKP to spend, nothing that I can use/want drops. At this point, I'd gladly take the Cenarion Bracers. But no. In addition, we are having issues getting through MC now, where last week we were rolling over the bosses at an insane rate. We managed to down two more bosses tonight, so all's well, I guess. Nothing yet dropped, and I'm done until next week (I'm not going tomorrow, and we'll be as far as we can go after tomorrow night, so I will have to wait for patch day to reset the instance.)

Well, I've printed that Buy the Numbers book out, and plan to go over it carefully in the days and weeks ahead. For now, though, I have to get SOME sleep.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] prissi? When do you wanna start The Purpose Driven Life?
