tek2way: (Movies - Lord of the Rings)
I am not looking forward to today, but it's mainly because I *have* to try to take my car through inspection this afternoon, after I get off work. I am not terribly optimistic that it will pass, but I have to hope that it at least won't smoke, so I can get a "you failed" notice, and have until the end of February to get it to pass.

I am sure everything will be fine, but I get nervous like this every time I have to take it through inspection. I wish I lived in the county. Things are exacerbated by the fact that I had that smoking problem earlier this fall, where I kept forcing too much oil in it, because I'm an idiot.

Pray for me, folks. I'm going to need all the help I can get.

At least I'll have a good book to read while I wait. American Gods is quite the page-turner. I didn't get to bed until after 11pm, and that's after turning out the light, trying to sleep, and turning the light back on and reading some more.

Now, can someone tell me why i'm getting E-mail that is obviously for Senator John Ford? I mean, really...

"buy that second home for your mistress" has GOT to be for him, right? :)

Okay. I lied.

I didn't go through inspection today. I should have, I know. Yet, you didn't have my day.... *ripple flashback effect*

I woke up a little before the alarm went off, so I shut it off, and got on up. No sense hearing the alarm, when I wasn't going to be fully asleep. I got up, and checked LJ, LastRevelation's forums, and my E-mail. I then checked the newsgroups, and read Day 16 while I did some downloading. I shouldn't have downloaded anything, though. By the time I was out of the shower, dressed, and on my way to work, it was 6am already. I'm just downright stupid sometimes, you know?

So, I got to work late. I think that I'm done being late, though, since I apologized to the night checker, and knew that I meant it. The checker, Anthonea, had come in, and wasn't feeling too well. What I found somewhat odd, though, was that I found myself rather attracted to her today. It's nothing against her, it's just that I never felt an attraction for her quite that strongly before.

The day progressed just fine. At 8am, that cute checker came in, too. I was surrounded by women! (Hehehe..) Things were fine until 1030am. We began backing up quite badly. The reason was that we didn't have enough help scheduled. Now, before you say, "Anthony, weren't you the one who did the schedule?" I must point out that I built the schedule following the guidelines put forth by the manager. (Which I threw back at her when she asked about us being backed up.)

Then, Annie called. She was going to run late. I can't say anything about that, since I've been running late this year, too. However, her lateness caused me to miss my lunch. I could have gone, but I asked Mrs. Kellum about it, and she said to skip my lunch. I helped on U-Scan for a while, but then the meat manager began going after me about some drug test results. So, I went upstairs to figure out how to get those. (He was sent to me by the manager. Our co-manager, who just got transferred, used to do them all the time.) Just as I get the results, I get a call: We're backed up badly, the one register is broken, and the girl who had been left down there is about to have a nervous breakdown.

I got down there, and patched things up pretty well, only to find out that I have been called BACK upstairs, this time to fix the schedule. *rolls eyes* I hate doing the schedule at all. Tweaking the schedule when someone else did it annoys me. I managed to get it fixed while only getting a quarter hour overtime. I came downstairs, and Jennifer was at U-Scan. I noticed that she was wearing blue jeans today. They, ahem, fit her quite well, at that.* Interestingly, she asked if we were working together on Saturday. We had a brief conversation about when we MIGHT work together again, and I left.

Only to return to get my CDs from Accounting (Evanescence - Fallen, Tori Amos - Tales of a Librarian, a Nightwish compilation, and my burn of Tori Amos - The Beekeeper. That's when I decided to grab dinner and... *face goes white as the horror dawns on him* MY SMIRNOFF ICE!!! Oh dang it! I grabbed a six-pack to go with dinner, but forgot about it, because I bought Barbershop 2** tonight. I digress, though..

So, since I worked my tail off, had to futz with the schedule, had to come back in for CDs, bought food, and it was raining, I decided that the inspection could wait until Monday. (Of course, it can't wait any longer. My tags are up on 1/31.) Up until the rain, I had TRIED to convince myself that I would still go.

I came home, read LJ, read LR, talked to a few friends, watched Barbershop 2***, and enjoyed dinner. Now, I'm beat quite a bit, and have had to keep forcing my eyes back open to finish this post. I'm going to bed, all. Good night.

* - I'm only gonna half apologize here. I'm male. I'm not blind. But I don't visually rape anyone, either. Quick glances are my stock-in-trade.
** - Eve, who plays Terri in both movies, is HOT. I never quite realized this before.
*** - Which I've already told you.. :)
