tek2way: (RPG - Tasslehoff)
I've been rather busy since Saturday. When last I posted, I had gotten in from a day of hanging out with Charles, and running some of his "necessary" post-wedding-related errands. Needless to say, it was fun, even if I was wiped out from it. :)

Sunday morning came, and I did my usual thing at work, and got payroll done quickly, too. I actually got everything paperwork-related done. I came home, and rested until around 320pm, when I went to get Scott. See, even though nyminalBrad had his parents in town for his daughter's birthday, Scott and I were going to hang out at Charles' place for a little while. We got there just after his wife got back from her trip to a cousin's wedding in Mississippi (busy with the weddings, aren't they?), so we helped her get her stuff in, and looked at the wedding pictures that her stepfather took during her own wedding. They were great, though I managed to be in very few. Weird, I tell you. :)

We wound up firing up the grill again. This time, though, we made hot dogs. Scott and I ran across the street to Schnuck's* and got some hot dog buns, milk, and some fancy hot dogs. (That last was my idea, because the Oscar Mayer XXL hot dogs are like a happy mix between a GOOD hot dog and a smoked sausage. MMMm..) While there, Scott got some powdered blueberry-filled doughnuts. Actually, I bought him four. Based on his requests to everyone for them to get him said doughnut when they become rich, I've taken care of my obligation for at least $4 million. :)

We ate, after which Melissa and Charles broke out the red wine. I've never had wine that good before. It had a good flavor, and no nasty aftertaste. I had three glasses. :) I never got drunk, though.** They are Charmed addicts, so they watched the new episode, which was my first ever episode of Charmed. Let me say, that is one damn cool show. The one who's pregnant right now is really attractive to me. Something in the way she expresses her emotions in her face. Mmmm...

Afterward, we talked about role-playing games, and we (Charles, Scott and I) explained the basics of RPGs to Melissa, who Charles is trying to interest in gaming. We were partly successful. She liked the exploration and interaction part, but not really the combat. Given that we were running diceless, and Charles was arbitrarily deciding what happened, I can't blame her there. (It was so that she could see how such a session would go, not confuse her with the rules.) The good news is that she likes it, at least enough to try again.

After the "session" was over, it was 1030pm, and I had work the next day! So, I took Scott home, and headed home. I was REALLY sleepy, though, so I wound up driving with the windows down, radio blaring, singing at the top of my lungs as much as I could, just to keep awake. I didn't realize that I was that bad off. I got home, and was in bed by 1130pm. This wasn't going to be enough sleep, so I changed my alarm to 500am instead of the usual 430am.

I needed it.

I got up, got ready, and made it to work a few minutes late. The day was uneventful, except for the 9am checker not coming in. Her excuse? "I didn't know I was scheduled." She apparently didn't know where the schedule was, or just assumed that she wasn't on it. Sheesh. Anyway, we made it, but I was truly wiped out by the time I got home.

I showered, got ready for bed at 600pm, drank some hot herbal tea (Celestial Seasonings "Mint Magic"), and read for a few hours. I wound up staying awake until 900pm, because of a headache, and how hard Laurell K. Hamilton's Seduced by Moonlight is. I took some Tylenol, and crashed.

This morning, I woke up at 430am. This time, I had had right at 7.5 hours of sleep. Let me tell you, it showed in my energy and attitude. I had a pretty good day at work, and nothing bothered me for long. I was even able to talk to Faye about her current conflict with the manager. (He just scheduled her for the 3rd shift spot, without so much as a "Hey, I'm out of options, do you mind doing it?")

I took a break this morning. That's rare. The reason? I wanted a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004. Those bastards at Best Buy AND CompUSA were still closed. So, at lunch, I went back. Neither place had it yet. And today was its release day. *pout* Oh well, I'll check again tomorrow. It is retailing for $39.99 on Amazon.com, and that's not even a discounted price. Sweet. EDIT: It's not even due out until Thursday. How the heck did I confuse that with today? Sheesh.

Coming home, I dozed for a bit, took a shower, and finally decided to update my journal. Expect another one shortly. I have a friends-only post to do.

*Yeah, Kroger's competition. I was off work, dammit, and wanted no part of that big fuckin' K. Bite me.
** - I did, however, get REALLY, REALLY tired.
