Let's see.. Today. Yes, today. It was a pretty good day, if I say so myself, even if it started kind of shaky.
I got to work a minute late, even though I didn't do anything out of the ordinary this morning. I can only surmise that I am becoming accustomed to the time I get up, and and thusly slowing down. Not good. It's time for a shakeup. Maybe I'll get up earlier. *sigh*
When I got to work, I realized that the morning checker wasn't there. It was originally supposed to be the checker we fired mid-week. We had replaced it with another checker who just started. He hadn't shown up yet, though. I called his house about twenty minutes later, and he was still asleep. I was put at ease, though, when he assured me he would be at work in five minutes. He must live close, because he was.
After I finished my morning work, I took the schedule, and headed upstairs. I spent all morning working on it, since I hadn't done so on Thursday, when I was supposed to work on it. In the intervening time, it had been posted. Thankfully, we're given until noon on Saturday to finalize the schedule, per the union contract. I got it finished and went to lunch, during which I read more in Night of Blood, by Richard Knaak. This book is very well done, and I am enjoying it immensely. Yes, this means I've put the Lord of the Rings down again. Sorry, I just can't quite get into it, especially since I'm now at the part where they've left the House of Elrond, and are trying to get across the mountains.
Anyway, I came back, let out Annie for her lunch, and spent an hour and a half in Guest Care. I guess she took her two breaks with her lunch. Oh well, it made my day that much shorter, without me having to resort to checking or bagging.
I counted, and left work. This is the time I've been waiting for since Tuesday. I headed straight for Davis-Kidd Books, the 20% discount clutched in my talons, eager to give them all of my money. While I didn't give them all of my money, I'm really glad that I had that discount, because I didn't know when to stop. :)
( Here are the books I got )
Yes, that's quite a list. Let's just say that making a list ahead of time was both good and bad for me. It was good, because I didn't run amok, buying everything that struck my fancy, but it was bad because I felt compelled to complete the list. *sigh* Oh well, I now have some quality reading material, and I've another book on order from Amazon.com.
Now, I go to read more of the adventures of Conan the Cimmerian, who is, based on the short story, "The Phoenix on the Sword", an Epic-level rogue/fighter/barbarian/frenzied beserker with the ENTIRE battery of "X Rage" feats, the whole Power Attack tree. and a bunch more thrown in for good measure.
