tek2way: (Anry - Dark Star)
After yesterday's early morning post about a bunch of stupid plastic miniatures, I woke up at my usual time of 430am. However, I made a serious error.

What's that, you say? What could I have done that's so bad that I have to mention it? Simply this: I ate breakfast first, instead of following routine and showering first. As a result, I managed to nearly be docked fifteen minutes for running late. *shakes head* That's the last time I'm doing that. Tired or not, I'm not going to let myself be late like that again.

I got to work, and got started. Everything went okay that morning, except that I learned that Bill Platten, about the highest-ranking person in the company that actually lives in Memphis, was coming in at 9am. Well, given that I hadn't shaved, I was a little unhappy about it, but I figured I'd make the best of a bad situation. So, I got everything done as quickly as possible, and got U-Scan put out. As you may expect, I was the one who was supposed to run it. No big deal. I grabbed my Memo book, and began to make notes about the campaign while I watched UScan.

A short while later, I learned that Platten wouldn't be coming until 1pm. Well, this annoyed me, but only slightly, since we were running behind on getting things cleaned up. (I say we, but I mean the store in general. The re-shop and trash had been removed from the Front End already. We were ready.) I took the opportunity to bring out my January issue of Astronomy magazine.

Interesting trivia: Earth reaches perihelion on 4 January, at 12pm CST. This, folks, is when Earth is at its closest to the Sun (91.4 million miles). The neat thing is the reason why it's cold. Since our pole is tilted away from the sun, the sun's energy is spread out across the area, which spreads the heating ability out too, thus bringing lower temperatures. *shrug* I love this stuff. :)

Anyway, after lunch, I fell into a black mood. I don't know why, but I couldn't give two shits about anyone or anything. Occasionally, my mood picked up some, but it mostly stayed low. The one bright spot of my afternoon was when I helped an old lady through UScan. I rang her groceries and handled tendering the money, so she wouldn't have to. She thanked me, and said that I was very nice. I told her I tried, and she said, "Well, you do a good job." I actually had a smile for a little while after that.

Leaving work at 3pm, I headed to Kevin's parent's house, because I told them I'd help them put up their Christmas lights. It wasn't long after I got there, that I was in a genuinely good mood again. I felt happy and content. After we spent a couple of hours putting up lights and getting the extension cords run, we had dinner. His mom is an awesome cook, and she made pork chops, corn, pinto beans, mashed potatoes, and her homemade biscuits *AND* cornbread. Both were made because I told her I didn't have a preference, and to surprise me, when she asked which I would rather have. :) Talk about a surprise.

After loading up on food, I watched Wheel of Fortune with Pop, and came home. I didn't do anything significant here, aside from paying for the Skills & Powers book I won during the day. I went to bed around 1030pm, and slept most of the night. I woke up briefly around 430a, and checked things online, before returning to bed.

I didn't awake again until nearly 10am. I must have been tired. I felt it, too. My head felt stuffed full of pillows, and it ached with a dull throbbing that made me wish I had no head. Fortunately, I persevered, and the headache finally went away.

In that time, I made a new icon, and browsed eBay some more. I really need to lay off that place for a while. I'm getting too involved with the auctions again. Oh well, two more auctions to wait closure on, and then I'm done for a while.

I also worked on a list of books that I'll look for when I go shopping with my 20% discount at Davis-Kidd tomorrow. No guarantees, but it looks like I'll be snagging a grab-bag of titles from authors I've never read, including Laurell K. Hamilton, Maggie Furey (see, I remembered!), Orson Scott Card, Robin Hobb, C. J. Cherryh, and L. E. Modesitt, Jr. I also plan to look for Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, by Lovecraft. I figure that if everyone else is reading his stuff, that I should too. However, if I'm going to lose my mind, then I'm going to do it reading the "best" that he's done. :) (That was a joke, folks. I'm sure my group will be quick in pointing out that there are other stories that are better. At least [livejournal.com profile] jartravian, anyway.)

I am doing my laundry today, and nothing else, except possibly working on my campaign idea. I came up with some interesting ideas during work yesterday, and I'd like to see how they integrate into the overall idea I have. That aside, I have one thing that has been weighing on me lately:

I want to get a telescope )

Oh well, as they say, "If wishes were horses.." I better get my laundry done, so I can concentrate on my campaign idea.
