Wow. Was yesterday fun, or what?
I went to Brad's. Aron, Brad, and I went to Comics and Collectibles to see if they had the new Midnight creature book, Minions of the Shadow, or Age of Mortals, the supplement for the Dragonlance Campaign Setting. They had neither. Kevin's Attic had both.
For some reason, though, I didn't get Age of Mortals. I think it's a two-fold reason: First, it had spoilers for the post-War of Souls stuff. Second, it's $40, and not something I'm likely to need immediately. I'm happy with MInions, though. It's got a critter in there that is invisible, odorless, and if it hits you, you're dealt "negation" damage, because you've lost a body part, which won't grow back without healing from some kind of magical healing. And it's just a CR 7!?!?! Bwahahaha!!!
Ahem, after that, we grabbed money out of the ATM, and went driving. We wanted to eat someplace nice (i.e., not fast food), and wound up going to Logan's Roadhouse. Oh man, the service was immaculate. I have never had such good service anywhere. I'm really pleased. The food was good, even though my steak was a little rarer than I normally like. Overall, I'd give Logan's a 9 out of 10.
We decided to forego getting ice cream at Baskin-Robbins, and headed back to Brad's. Then, it hit us. So, we stopped and grabbed a 12-pack of Bud Light. (Brad upgraded it to a 20 pack without telling me.) We all went back to Brad's and knocked back beer and told stories and had a good time until around 1am.
Much later that night, I went outside, and checked out some more stars. I just enjoyed checking out what was already out there. I didn't see anything new.. OH! Except for this one thing. It was around 3am, and I was looking at Andromeda through my binoculars when I saw movement up there. I focused on the movement, and it was a tiny reddish speck moving at a constant speed celestially northwest. It was NOT a plane; I know those well. This was smaller, dimmer, and moved more quickly.
I have to wonder what that was. It was almost certainly terrestrial, since it would have had to have been going an insane speed to be moving that fast outside of our atmosphere. I know it wasn't a balloon (faster), plane (faster and dimmer), or a meteor (slower and dimmer). I thought that perhaps it MIGHT be a satellite, but I have no way of verifying my guess.
Anyway, I'm off today and tomorrow. I wonder what I'll do with my off time...
