Well, I wish it was that simple. To drink that herbal tea, or rest, and have fantastic powers at your beck and call. Sure, Raistlin wound up evil, but wouldn't it be great to have access to that kind of power?
I could have used it today, for sure. Of course, you'd be hearing about me on the news, though. :)
Nah, it wasn't all that bad. Well, it tried, though. I wallked in, only running a couple of minutes late, and found out that the morning checker called in at 2am. Excuse me? There's no one in the store who can replace a shift at 2am. The thing that really pisses me off about this is that pulling that kind of stunt the day after a paid holiday usually results in you losing that holiday's pay. However, she's been with the company for over 25 years, so they're going to let her slide. Never mind that for anyone else, the managers would be talking suspensions and all other things too. Just because she's worked for the company for that long doesn't automatically make her a better person. She could just as easily have played hooky as a part-timer just off the street. Oh well. Nothing I can do about that.
Now, I have a bit of a rant about a co-worker. I'm going to just let it rip, and if this gets back to her, I'll deal with it then. Ahem..
We have an employee named "Dana". She is our "supervisor." I use quotes because supervise is the last thing that she does. She is scheduled to show up at noon, so she can cover the afternoon rushes. Well, as I've mentioned before, we're shorthanded, and she's had to check as a result. This wouldn't be a big thing, but she has this idea that she's better than checking, and that she's tired of it.
So, now, when she comes in, she goes to Guest Care, and makes a phone call. Then, she disappears off the front end. She shows back up, and lets out the guest care break, nevermind that every single checker out there is due a break first. I wind up running Uscan to cover first one, and then another, break. I don't mind doing this. It's what I'm expected to do. However, after the guest care break is done, she hangs around up there, or goes into accounting, and makes more phone calls. Meanwhile, I'm having to catch supervisor calls, even though I am not supposed to leave Uscan. Heck, sometimes, it's impossible for me to do so, as I am either helping a customer through Uscan, or every Uscan is busy.
I asked her for a price check earlier, and you know what she did? She got the price, and then called the price over the intercom. A few minutes later, she walked up, carrying some discount merchandise that she had decided that she wanted. I would have gotten my ass chewed for that. Of course, for some reason, the manager coddles her like the princess she thinks she is.
I catch hell because I have a "cushy" shift. Why is it that I'm busting my ass all day, and others just goof off? Something's seriously out of whack, here.
Anyway, I'm just tired of that shit, and I felt like saying something about it.
I got home, and the new issue of Astronomy magazine had arrived. The cover article is about Galileo's final days before crashing into Jupiter. Neat. I can't wait to read it.
*Skip one hour forward*
I just got off the phone with my CSM. I talked to her about Dana, and apparently, this is behavior that Dana isn't doing when my CSM is around. I hate being a snitch, but I feel this is justified.
Anyhoo, I'm gonna piddle around a bit, and perhaps do another post.
