tek2way: (Despair)
I was late. *sigh* I didn't get done with my End of Day paperwork, though, until 11am. The morning checker called in. I got to spend from 6am until 830am, reading my newspaper. It felt good. I read almost eveything in it. We're back to being within acceptable shortage limits for the week, too.

One thing that I heard today frightened me to the core. The Co-Manager came in the back accounting office to use the phone. He called one of the deli employees, and informed her that she was getting transferred. She apparantly argued this point, bringing up those of lower seniority, because he pointed out that some of those people were laid off. Gosh, I knew we were having trouble meeting sales because of the new store that opened around the corner, but lay-offs? At this point, about the only thing saving my butt is that I'm full-time and that I can do the Sunday morning Time & Attendance paperwork. (Even the lowest full-timer has more seniority over the highest part-timer. I don't know. That's just how the contract was done.)

I will say this, and I hope to hold to it. I am going back to school, and I'm going to get a degree in something I can use. I do not want to run the risk of being laid off. That's a serious worry. I'm alright for now, though. I think.

In other news, the Midnight Campaign Setting from Fantasy Flight Games is out, but is not at Comics N Collectibles yet. ARGH! People are starting to discuss what they found in there, and frankly, I want to read it too! Hopefully, they'll have it in tomorrow. (I've checked every day that I've worked this week.)

Finally, on a serious note, one of my friends is losing his house. It's the house we game at, and he has no where to go. I can't offer where I'm staying, since I live with my folks. He can't move back in with his folks. I am pulling for him. It's just bad luck for him. First he was sick, and that kept him from working. Now, he's lost his place because of it.

I have to get Rick to go get my table from my other friend's house tomorrow... *sigh*

I've got some LJ Comments to reply to, now. I have to think long and hard about how to phrase my responses. These are not easy answers.

Hehehe.. now that he has a computer, I've talked my brother into getting a LiveJournal! :)

Say hello to [livejournal.com profile] makeshift_guru, folks. He lives in the room next to mine, so be gentle. I'll catch all the heck you give him. :)
