Several years ago, back in 1997-1998, I read the Magic: The Gathering novel, The Brothers' War, by Jeff Grubb. As you might expect, it centered around the war between Mishra and Urza chronicled in the Antiquities expansion. Jeff wrote an amazing story that really brought the war to life. After I read it, I decided I would take a crack at making theme decks based on Urza's and Mishra's armies. Granted, these aren't the greatest, and I don't know why I put what in each deck. I can only assume that I knew what I was doing back then.

So, without further ado, here are two decks that are at least 5 years old.

Urza's Army )

Mishra's Army )

That wasn't too hard. I might post more decks in the future. Don't worry, folks. I'll use LJ Cuts like I did here, if you don't wanna bother with them.

Work today was work. I was late (Surprised? Nah, didn't think you'd be.) I dawdled. I almost got done by 8am anyway, though. I was surprised. Oh well, I'll improve. I didn't get the coke machine money pulled today, so I have Wednesday and Thursday to pull it. I was allowed to skip my lunch today, since we were missing a checker. Don got suspended.

Don is an old co-worker. I think he's somewhere in the neighborhood of 65 or so. He's working here as a part time job. He's not a bad guy, at least not to me. However, and I unfortunately have seen this too, he has been known to:

a) pick his nose
b) adjust himself
c) ignore customers
d) not take money, and leave it on counter top
e) bark orders at the customers
f) get rude with some co-workers (usually the females)

He has such a reputation that when retirement homes come in on his days, the other checker gets a line that's 10 deep, and Don has no customers. Unfortunately, we cannot let him go unless we get written complaints about him. That happened this past Friday. Today was his first day since then.

Don't get me wrong. I like him. However, he has had numerous talkings-to about his behavior. So, he's chosen not to change. I just hope that this gets through this time.

Anyway, I left work, and checked out Comics N Collectibles for the Midnight campaign setting. It is supposed to be out. No such luck. I grabbed some Odyssey, the rules/application for a hold box there, and came home. I found the rest of my auctions that ended last week on my bed. Woohoo!

There is a good reason why I grabbed the application. While I have a hold box at Comic Cellar, I get funny vibes from Jason sometimes. It's almost like he doesn't like me, but forces a friendly face, since I spend money there. Something about that bothers me. I'm not going to do anything about it for now. However, I wanted to explore my options, should he push me too far. I did do Jason wrong in times past (I let my hold box go without calling him and explaining). However, when I've come back, I've always been a great customer, and a loyal one to boot. This time, though, I have to wonder if last time was once too many. Or if things have changed for him. *shrug* Nothing wrong with scouting around, right?

I now have to completely rebuild my Thallid deck. I got some nifty cards to add to it. Namely, 4 Fallen Angels, and 4 Parallel Evolutions. The latter doubles my token creatures, and is flashback to boot, while the former eats said tokens. :) I know I got some other neat stuff, too.

Since Sunday, I've had this feeling that my Silver Marches campaign is going no where. Rather, that I was missing fundamental elements to properly flesh out the world the way I want. I hope that it's merely the result of me being tired as heck, but it's been nagging me all week.

I have left out details in certain places, made others up (that were wrong), and didn't adhere to what I've read. I know that this doesn't sound like the end of the world, but I wanted to maintain that level of realism. Now, I am not so sure.

Another thing that's been bugging me is the fact that at the end of the last major plot point (the fight against Ian McAllister's pet Spawns of Velsharoon (Kyuss), no one questioned what Ian was doing in the north, or thought about what he said. Not even out of character. (Except for Stephen, who just cursed behind some $&&^&#@$~ things.) Was I wrong? Should I not have done this? It seems to me that if I ran into a guy who was my nemesis before, I'd be a little interested in what he's up to. Especially WHEN HE GOES THROUGH A PORTAL TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION, even to the resident planar-savvy necromancer. I won't even bring up the fact that Ian hinted that someone in particular in the group had to die.

Perhaps I am just burned out. I've been having a lot of fun, but perhaps it's time I really set things down for a while, not just two-three weeks That might give me the time to plot ouf things the way I want. I really need time to intertwine my campaign idea into the things they are going to deal with. Of course, will I use that time? *shakes head* I doubt it.
