Well, the first thing that made this week interesting is the fact that I did NO planning on it. Zip. Zero. Zilch. I just never got around to plotting anything out. I don't think the session went badly, though.

The session began immediately where the last session left off last week: Immediately after the battle with the orcs. They still healed each other up some, and got the group together. However, they felt something weird coming from the Greataxe used by the leader of the orc band. Ever the optimistic (greedy?) one, Thomas just tucked it into his saddle, and forgot about it. (Granted, I did too - sorta. *evil grin*)

Myst came back to the campsite, where everyone was gathered, and informed them of what happened. Everyone went back to bed, and the night finished without incident.

...and this is where we stopped for the night. I'll be honest. If I had something planned out, then we could have gone further, but I didn't, and I have to make my villains during the week. That's okay. I'll have something for them this Sunday. :)

Well, since I got Edenbridge's "Aphelion" CD, as well as a real version of Nightwish's "From Wishes to Eternity - Live" CD on Saturday, I have decided that it's time to revise my Winamp playlist. After all, I have more stuff to add. I have stuff I don't want to listen to anymore. I should find another new band to add into my playlist.

I'll update you when I'm done. It's been something like 5 months since last I did this, so it's about time anyway.

It appears that one of my players has decided to help me playtest my "improved" ranger. Alex doesn't like spellcasters, and wanted to get away from magic. Ironically, I had made just that: a ranger that didn't use magic or "favored enemies". I attempted to model it closely after Strider, aka Aragorn, from the Lord of the Rings. He is the ultimate woodsman and tracker, and not too shabby with his weapons.

So, here is my ranger. I'm calling it "woodsman", since Scott's already playing Monte Cook's ranger. (I hate the default one in the PHB. Too-front loaded.)

I hope that things work out real well for this. I think it's fairly balanced, but is comparable to other classes. As always, I'll gladly accept constructive C&C.

Yes, I've done it! I, [livejournal.com profile] tek2way, have conned, er, convinced another person to join the wonder that is LiveJournal. :) Everyone, say hello to [livejournal.com profile] mfsfreak. He games with me on Sundays and Fridays. He's just getting started, so be nice to him. Let's make him feel welcome. I wanna see him post. :)

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] lordreaibn, I beat you to him! I got him to sign up first! :)

EDIT: I've also added Scott. He's known as [livejournal.com profile] strieson Hahaha!!! :)

It took me all day, but I finally got around to finishing my Winamp playlist reorganization. I've added a bunch of stuff from my favorite bands, and took away some from the more obscure things that I didn't like as much.

Anyway, because I can, and because an LJ Cut will save most of you, I present:

my current winamp playlist )

Whew, that's quite a list. Contrary to what many of you may think, I own the albums for almost all of these mp3s. Heck, that's what took so long today - ripping them from the CD. :) I've even preordered the Evanescence album. I am immensely impressed by their skill. Saying this about an American band is not something I say lightly. Of course, they have a female singer. Perhaps there's some connection?

I finished R.A. Salvatore's Dragonslayer's Return tonight. As [livejournal.com profile] dlyman29 said, it's easily his best work. I absolutely loved this story. I wish he could do more like it. I wouldn't want to see more sequels per se, but I always love the time/dimension displaced traveller stories, moreso when they involve fantasy elements. Now, I think I'm going to read Neil Gaiman's Coraline next. I should be done with that by Thursday. After that, I'm going to finish Ian Irvine's Dark is the Moon and The Way Between the Worlds. After that, I believe I have some Thomas Covenant stuff by Stephen Donaldson to read. :)
