Yesterday was fairly uneventful since we were still without AC, we played some D&D at the apartment anyway(we originally were going to play some Castles & Crusades), and I played some more Guitar Hero II.
I hope that the AC is fixed today, or tomorrow at the earliest. It's already over 80 degrees in here. No, opening a window isn't an option, since we have no screens on the windows. Our apartment complex said they were something like a one-time addon, and if they broke/tore, the screens wouldn't be replaced. (I got the impression that it was a particular manager who put them in, but it wasn't -- strictly speaking -- "approved by the management company". Ass.)
In the meantime, I plan to get my hair cut, visit my mother, and go for a walk. All in the name of not sitting in this apartment. Well, at least #2. Hehe, I just don't wanna get my hair cut today, though it really needs it. As for the walk, I should have done that after breakfast (Frosted Mini-Wheats! Yay!), but before I began to seriously poke around the 'net. I figure I'll do it tomorrow for sure, though. (I think I'm going to go to bed at a reasonable time tonight, and get up NEAR when I usually do, so that I can be out there early in the morning. Somehow, I just don't want to go walking in the middle of the day, with lots of people around.
As for the game yesterday, the original idea fell through when one of our players had in-laws-visiting issues to deal with (fair enough.. I understand that he couldn't help it). The D&D 3.5 game I ran with
strieson and
mfsfreak was fun, though it shows how imprecise the Party EL/CR system really is (CR x = Party of 4 with average level of x). If you have less than 4 people, you're going to have problems with some encounters, and they're going to blow through others. For example, they are playing a pair of level 10 paladins. Since it's just the two of them, I mentally referred to a chart in Dungeon 89 that tells me that a party of two is actually three levels lower than the actual level of the characters. So, they're a level 7 party.
The adventure I ran (which is a lot of fun, and would have been even more so if I'd had time to prepare) threw a Greater Fire Elemental against them. That's a Huge size (15' on a side) monster made up entirely of fire. It's a CR 10 per the Monster Manual, but it had barely a third of its hit points, so it was included as a level 9 challenge. The two paladins -- in full health -- barely defeated it by the end, despite their magical weapons. Later, they ran into a Bodak, a CR 8 monster. In less than 3 rounds, they'd avoided its Death Gaze, and nearly killed it (it ran off, circled around, and tried to attack them again from behind). The second time, they sneezed, and it died (it had 5 hit points before I could get away). Sure, one was basically a CR 10, and the other was a CR 8, but the disparity still annoys me. I hear it'll be different in 4th Edition.
This morning, I did my exercises again, as I learned yesterday that if I don't do them, the old familiar "yawning and wanting to go back to sleep" bit comes back in full force. (So much so that I almost did some pushups and jumping jacks in my accounting room yesterday morning after a particularly jaw-popping yawn.) However, I had to coax myself into doing them this morning. The thing is, it's not that I didn't want to do them. It's that I didn't want to do them. :) I mean, I wanted to get them done, because I know I'd feel better when I did, but I had to talk myself into starting the first of each exercise I did. (I almost started squat-thrusts today, but did one, and decided that it could wait.) I guess the important thing is that I actually finished, right?
Now, I'm going to start some laundry, take a shower, and get dressed for the day.
