tek2way: (Movies - Jack Sparrow)
Okay, I would like to preface this post with the acknowledgement that I am not perfect in either grammar or spelling. I know that I make typos and errors in my posts. I use commas too frequently, I misspell words, and I am guilty of run-on sentences. However, what you are about to see is frightening.

Someone from a local school asked for a donation from our store this past week. Part of the requirement for the donation is that the recipient submits a letter requesting the donation on a company/school letterhead. This one was so bad, that I had to make a copy of it, and sneak it home.  Related below, with only the names of the guilty party and school obscured to protect the guilty, is the exact text of the letter, down to the spacing and line breaks.

The adopters of Sharp Manufacturing have been kind and
generous again this year by providing twenty-three baskets
for our families in need. We our grateful for their
assistance, which helps our families, have a holiday meal
and gift's this season.

As a school we are grateful to our adopter Sharp
Manufacturing and the many ways they help support our
community and school.

Sincerely,

Is it any wonder that our schools are underperforming? Is it any wonder that the Shelby County School district is fighting to remain independent? This is a SCHOOL COUNSELOR (or COUNSELLOR, as either spelling is correct according to www.dictionary.com). *I* could do a better job, and I don't have a college degree.

Is it too late to turn this around? I hated diagramming sentences in school, but it has served me well. This person needs to cover some remedial grammar.

*sigh*
