First of all, I bought nothing on Buy Nothing Day. Did you?
Saturday was spent with Kevin and his family (mom, sister and her family, his wife, and nephews). It was a lot of fun, since we did the deep-fried turkey thing, talking about Trans-Siberian Orchestra, talked about random things, and played Uno (in which I NEARLY won). I came home late, but didn't regret a single thing.
Sunday, work went well, and I was through with it by noon. Since this was Thanksgiving weekend -- and I didn't get the message from
nyminal telling me differently -- there was no game this week. I spent the day on WoW, making connections with people in the guild, and running instances, specifically Scarlet Monastery and RazorFen Downs. Let me tell you, I love tanking with my Dire Bear form. (I'm a 42 Tauren Druid, as of this post.)
Today, I woke up early, and took advantage of the lack of people on the server to run around and collect herbs for my potions (I'm at 253 in Herbalism and 255 in Alchemy. Artisan ftw!) I ran some more SM, but lost my connection for some reason. Later, I got back on, and the officers in the guild had an impromptu meeting about the future of the guild. We're a new-ish guild, only around since mid-July, and at first we were taking everyone who asked, to swell our numbers. Our laid-back atmosphere really affected some people, and we have a killer group of regulars now. However, some joined just to have a guild, and some of the regulars brought in their alts, and haven't done anything with them in a while.
Now, we're no longer taking folks lower than 30. The ones who are in the guild are okay, for now. The problem is that we have a mass of people who aren't trying to level, who want the higher levels to hold their hand while they level, and the alts of the regulars that never get played. The meeting was about how to handle that. At this point, I'm for pushing folks out, if they haven't hit 30 in a set amount of time. It's
strieson's guild, though, so what he says, goes. We need to keep people, yes, but we need to influence the lower people to actually level. It's not that hard to move up in levels. Even less so if you find some people of similar level. Heck, it's boring as hell, but I've found that grinding is a heck of a lot better than doing quests for XP. Running instances is even better than grinding, and has the added benefit of being mentally engaging (since handling something wrong will usually wind up killing the whole party).
Well, I work 6a-3p this week (Tu-Fr, anyway..). I'm almost done with Knife of Dreams, which I haven't been reading as much, since the holiday was last week, and I played WoW a lot yesterday and today. Saturday is the next session in my Dragonlance game, and
lordreaibn (remember him?) is beginning to plan the best way to start another campaign in his world. I'm so excited, I've already come up with a character concept. :) (Basically, he was a youth who saw Aric Seles (my old character in the old campaign) restore the worship of a fallen god, and the youth was inspired to follow that deity. Right now, he's not going to be much different from Aric, but Tedros Shuian will ultimately become a priest of Delá, instead of the paladin that Aric was.)
For those who are cringing, yes, I will be doing session logs of that campaign when it begins. I may even begin doing them for my Dragonlance game. Don't worry, though, because that's -- at most, on a good day -- one per week, and usually done on the weekend, so you'll never notice. (No, I'm not going to filter them, since I wanna let those who might not be friends see them, and I don't wanna find out how many of you don't really wanna read 'em. It'd hurt my feelings badly.)
Wow.. I've run my mouth a lot. And I'm tired. And I need to read some more. So, as I tell the guild (Clan Timberwolf on the Thunderlord server) when I'm leaving: "Be good. Or don't get caught."
Love y'all!
