September is my mouthiest month since March, folks. I'm 37 (as of this one) entries strong into this month, and only January and March surpass that. Granted, I'm not likely to beat January at all, and March -- with its 46 entries -- would require a heck of a lot of meaningless posts between now and Friday, or maybe not. (That's just less than three posts a day. I know I can do, and will probably do, six in that time, at least.)
Today was day one of the United Food and Commerical Workers Union, Local 1529 First Annual Shop Steward Conference. A simpler way to put it is, "Here's a cool way to sucker 16 hours out of the company." I tell you, it was fun, even if I got rather panicky when I had to find a seat in the open to have lunch. (I wanted a corner, something simple to eat, and some quiet time to finish reading Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. (Fantastic book, by the way, even if I think that American Gods was just a wee bit better. It's really irrelevant, though, since by the time I finish any of his stories, I feel like I'm personally acquainted with the characters. I enjoy stories that well-written.)
I really felt like I learned some things today about being a shop steward, too. I walked out of there with a newly rekindled respect for the union and what my title encompasses. Did I mention that we got swag, and lots of it? :) I got a canvas briefcase/satchel, auto-cup-holder-friendly coffee cup, a coozie for a 12 oz drink, two balloons, a pen, a golf shirt, and a bumper sticker. Heheh.. I love swag, especially when it's got such cool ones. :)
My only regret about today is that it took me an hour to get home from Airways and Democrat, because I kept running into rush hour traffic, no matter which direction I went. At least I made it.
Well, I go back tomorrow for a half-day, and then I'm free until I have to work on Thursday morning. Good night, folks.
