Sunday was nearly a disaster at work. Someone was really late, another had an emergency and didn't come in, and we were busy on top of it all. However, I got payroll done, and bluffed my way through till the end of my shift. When it was over, I was out the door so fast no one saw me leave. (Not quite, but I didn't waste any time leaving, though.)
I picked up
strieson, and I came back home. We talked about D&D for a bit, until it was time to go to Charles' house. His birthday was a blast. We hung out, had good food, and even shot off a model rocket. Aside from
strieson and me, Kevin and Brandi and Justin and Heather were there. After the rocket-shooting was done (I even caught it once on its way down in a coulda-been-baseball-if-I'd-been-younger moment.), Justin and his wife left. The rest of us played poker. Not penny poker. Not real poker. Just poker. Yeah, we sat around, played cards, and talked. Awesome. I even learned that Kevin is interested in playing in the D&D game I want to run, so we're gonna move the game to Saturday, instead of Friday night. (Playing on a regular day off? Am I crazy!? Yeah, I am. Besides, it's only once every two weeks.)
strieson and I swung by my house, to drop off a plate of food for my mom, and I found that Aron was finally back. Sadly, he had to leave Monday to go back to PA. I talked him into going with me to take
strieson home. We talked a bit on the way back, but I think he was exhausted, and I was certainly not bright-eyed. In fact, I was so tired that when I got home and went to sleep, I slept all night with my bed lamp on.
Aron left early, but I got to talk to Rick a bit, and play with his daughter -- my niece/"goddaughter" -- Britney. Such a cute child, it's a wonder that she's even got his blood. :) They left, and I came in here, and defragged my computer properly in safe mode. (My computer's performance was getting iffy, despite frequent defrags. I signed into Safe Mode, and -- wouldn't you know it -- it did a more thorough defrag than I've ever seen on an XP machine. I wonder if there was just something I was missing.)
However, about two hours after they left, who showed up but them? A U-joint on the van started acting like it was about to go, so they came to the one place they knew they could go. :) (Feels like the Cheers intro.) Anyway, I spent the first part of the afternoon outside with them, and kept Britney entertained. Finally, they were ready, and left (about 6-8 hours late, but better late than a problem with the transmission). I came inside, and thought that I would play World of Warcraft for the rest of the afternoon. I started a Night Elf druid on Scarlet Crusade named Vallania, and ending by working on hitting level 14 with Jazeela. It wasn't too bad, but something was bugging me....
...MY BILLS!
Yeah, I managed to forget to pay my bills, and some were suddenly due. It's sad. I don't have money trouble (aside from a smaller-than-I-like share after bills), yet I never pay bills when I should. It's almost anathema to me. Then again, I don't open my mail, either. No big deal. I put out the fire, and things are cool again. :)
Tomorrow, I work 6a-3p, again, and I hope that I can make it through the day without too much trouble. :)
Have a safe trip home, guys!
