tek2way: Movie - John Preston (Movie - John Preston)
This is an interesting meme, and since [livejournal.com profile] hal23x made me do it, I'll do it. :-P

(Basic rules: List seven (7) songs that have been stuck in your head recently. Then, list seven (7) people who haven't already done the meme to pass it on to.)

Slayer - War Ensemble
Scanner - Galactos
Sabbat - Hosanna In Excelsis
Celtic Frost - Wine in my Hand (Third from the Sun)
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Megadeth - Take No Prisoners
Forbidden - Step by Step

Yes, it's (mostly) been 80's thrash metal week (except for the Maiden) at Fat Tony's place. :) I forgot how awesome some of this stuff was. Thrash metal really is a lost art. I don't know of any band today that can pull it off like some of the bands from the 80's and early, EARLY 90's (1990-92). You can keep your dance. You can have your pop. Hell, as much as I like it, take back your rock. Gimme metal, and gimme a lot!

Now, I'm not going to list specific people to do the meme, because half (or all) of them wouldn't do it, either to spite me, or because they don't care. I know that I'd like to see what the regular posters on my LJ listen to, though, and I imagine that both [livejournal.com profile] rafaela and [livejournal.com profile] slipjig, fellow music junkies*, will eventually wind up doing it (or have ALREADY done it, and I just missed it). :)

(* - To me, a music junkie is someone who has to hear music at some point during the day. They can't live without SOME tune playing, even if it winds up being nothing more than background noise. Further, they have to like gathering music to them, no matter how: mp3s, oggs, wavs(!), CDs, cassettes, LPs, 8-tracks, or whatever. The genre of music is unimportant, as everyone likes something just a bit different. Besides, there is no "true" musical catagory that invalidates all the others, despite the posturing by many, many people, including myself. :) )

I should have kept my mouth shut about having an easy day on Sunday. Why? Well, remember how I usually go into work at 5am, so I can get things done downstairs in time to do payroll? Well, I walked in at 6am, and found out that the morning accounting person had called in at 330am. I began to put out the perimeter registers, but I realized that there was no way I would get things done before 8am, which was when the Accounting person was supposed to open up U-Scan.

So, upstairs I went, with nothing done in the back but a single opening count. I don't know how I managed it, but I finished payroll by 8am, and got U-Scan out almost on time. Sadly, while I was doing payroll, the 12p-4p U-Scan clerk called in, too. (Or, I should say, her MOTHER called her in, even though she's 18-19, and capable of doing it herself. Sorry, she may have had a legitimate reason, but I was told "personal family reasons", and when you're skipping out on a shift, I feel you ought to tell a LITTLE bit more than that. Not in detail, but something, llike "she's throwing up" or "death in the family".)

So, from 8am until I left, we were shorthanded. We had a busy day on top of everything else, and couldn't keep up with the rushes. I'd have called someone in, but there wasn't really anyone to call in, and I didn't have a phone list downstairs TO call anyone in, for some reason. I wound up using the Drug/GM manager and a grocery clerk to run U-Scan and bag, respectively.

I managed to make it till 2pm, though I had to skip my lunch, again. (It's funny, the guaranteed way for me to not have to worry about a lunch on Sunday, is to want to take it. Damn you, Murphy. Damn you and your stupud law.)

I showed up at the game, and realized that I did not want to play the hacker character I'd made for the Traveller game. Instead, I rerolled. You know what I got? A low tech-level barbarian who's more comfortable swinging his broadsword in combat, than fooling with a gun. It's fine, though, as it is an interesting counterpoint to the other members of the group, and I'm not completely idiotic. I carry a semi-automatic pistol, as well as a shotgun. (Can't beat the spray damage of a shotgun. Period.)

I felt that the music I selected for the moods worked out well, though I was surprised that [livejournal.com profile] nyminal took the iPod from me to run the mixes. I thought I was gonna be "DJ", such as it is. I realize that it would make more sense if he did, but I am (understandably) protective of my iPod. I need to get my character updated for next week, too.

I did NOTHING productive today.

At least, nothing in real life. Waking up at 8am, I spent four hours or so reading web pages, researching RPG info, and just sitting quietly at my computer. It wasn't until around 1230pm that I signed on to WoW. And, I did nothing in WoW today but learn to fish, and fish pretty well, at that. (I can fish Deviate Fish in the Barrens now! -- that'll mean something to those who actually play)

Charles called, and wanted to do something today, since his wife was gone out of town on business. I suggested some simple D&D. More specifically, I suggested Castles & Crusades. It's a much simpler system, and friendlier to the DM's stories and plans. It's not a complete railroad or whatnot, nor does it remove the lethal edge. Instead, it puts the power of the game in the hands of the game master.

I began running Charles through the beginning stages of DL1: Dragons of Despair, the first Dragonlance module. He hasn't read the books in a while, so he didn't notice the parallels at first. Sadly, I wanna run it with more people, and while I like the C&C system, I have SOME reservations, because it seems that some things weren't explained in the core C&C book. Also, the adventure is hella epic, and a single player may not work out for it. *shrug*

Oh well, I'll worry about it tomorrow. For now, I really must get to bed.
