I slept in today. I was asleep until around 1030 or so. After having breakfast (extra large bowl of Peanut Butter Crunch) and taking care of the dogs, I went outside and mowed the lawn. I started with the backyard, and boy, am I glad that I did. I was a little out of practice with mowing a straight line. :) I got that going, and even had the weed eater working before that (though the stupid thing was almost out of line, and wouldn't dispense correctly).
I took a short break to have lunch and rest a bit. I'd do no one -- least of all myself -- any good by dropping out there from overexertion. (It probably wouldn't have happened today, but I'm learning not to take unnecessary chances.) I learned that Charles & Melissa have a creeper vine pest in the front flowerbed. A neighbor came over and pointed it out to me, and I yanked out what I could, but it's going to come back. "You're going to be fighting it all summer," were the words she used.
After that, I came in, made dinner, and just relaxed (after the requisite hot shower to clean up, of course). I printed out the Dragonshards articiles I was missing, and put them all in sheet protectors, and began to build my campaign notebook for Eberron. (The Dragonshards articiles are a biweekly web article on a feature of Eberron that is done by its creator, and it's treated as canon.)
Then, I decided to make a nifty cover sheet for the notebook. Before I started, I decided to check my account balance, to see if my income tax refund had hit. I told it, "Tell me I have hundreds and hundreds of dollars in there," and sure enough, my $800 refund had hit. *happy dance* Excellent. :) Now... *sound of record needle dragging across a record*
I have nothing to buy with it. I have a preorder I was gonna do, and I was going to pay a(n annual, and thus major) bill. Aside from that, I figure I'll dump it into savings. No sense blowing it this year. For some reason, that just doesn't appeal to me this time around.
Now, to get my mind off that money, and to get the cover sheet done for that binder. Even though the group only has ONE character who was in session one, I feel that this campaign is shaping up to be a good one. My use of music in this one seems to be paying off, too.
Good night, folks.
