According to Wal-Mart's web site:

On May 19, one of the biggest events of 2005 is coming to a theater near you, but the fun has already begun at your local Wal-Mart! Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is the final chapter in the Star Wars saga and Wal-Mart has all the games, collectibles and gear you're looking for, all at Every Day Low Prices. Stores that are open 24 hours will sell Star Wars toys and collectibles immediately after midnight on Saturday, April 2. Check your local store for hours of operation.

Make plans to join us at your Wal-Mart on Saturday, April 2 & Sunday, April 3 for our 48 Hours of the Force event, where you will be able to experience a universe spanning selection of collectibles and fun. At selected stores, a unique event will be held from 8AM to 4PM (local time) Saturday and Sunday showcasing Wal-Mart exclusive Star Wars toys, demos and much more.

Memphis' select store is: 8400 HIGHWAY 64, Memphis, TN 38133 (901)382-6101* (This store is 24 hour.)

Hmm.. Instead of staking out Toys R Us, which I'm sure will have a cool display, I'll go where they're sure to have TONS upon TONS of figures. :) What do you think, [livejournal.com profile] andric? Up for a midnight toy run?

* - Well, it's technically one of two. The other one, though is at Elvis Presley Blvd and Holmes. Not a good area in town.

..until the release of the Episode III figures. I find myself most interested in the Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi "Unleashed" figures. (These are almost a small resin-type statue, rather than an action figure. They can't move, and are clearly made to be displayed only.) Of course, there is a veritable cornucopia of great figures this time around. Of the figures I expect at launch, I am thinking about getting*:

  • III 9 - General Grievous (Four lightsaber attack!)

  • III 10 - Mace Windu (Force combat!)

  • III 11 - Darth Vader (Lightsaber attack!)

  • III 12 - Palpatine (Firing Force lightning!)

  • III 15 - Bail Organa (Republic Senator)

  • III 16 - Plo Koon (Jedi Master)

  • III 20 - Agen Kolar (Jedi Master)

  • III 21 - Shaak Ti (Jedi Master)

  • III 22 - Kit Fisto (Jedi Master)

  • III 24 - Mon Mothma (Republic Senator)

  • III 26 - Yoda (Spinning attack!)

  • III 27 - Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi kick!)

  • III 28 - Anakin Skywalker (Slashing attack!)

  • III 29 - Ki-Adi-Mundi (Jedi Master)

  • III 30 - Saesee Tiin (Jedi Master)

  • III 31 - Luminara Unduli (Jedi Master)

  • III 32 - Aayla Secura (Jedi Knight)
Obviously, I'm not going to be able to get all of them. The ones that are bolded are the most likely purchases. What can I say? I have a thing about Jedi. The only thing that's close is my obsession with stormtroopers, and their various armor. And clones, for some inexplicable reason, don't count to me.

I'll probably also look for the "Star Wars Monopoly - Saga Edition", which ties into the full six movies. Hmm.. I'll also look at the Trivial Pursuit, though it appears to be a DVD game. Well, time to go to bed. I've got 14 CDs of Star Wars soundtracks and all three radio dramas on my iPod, for tomorrow. :)

* - The parentheses are the descriptive name for each figure, NOT my opinion. :-P

The geek/nerd in me WILL calm back down...

...once May 19 has come and gone. Until then, I'm only getting worse. I love Star Wars, folks. Join me, or move along! (I sitll won't dress up, though.)
