(Just found out the results of tonight's game. Grr...)

Well, after yesterday's brake job, Charles, Melissa, and I went to Toys R Us, looking for a couple of new "party" games to get for when we hang out. (I was thinking of stuff like Mindtrap, Cranium, Fact or Crap, or something like it.) You know, games that inspire conversation and fun, not necessarily a board game (like Risk, Scrabble, or Monopoly). Well, Toys R Us was closed, so we hit Wal-Mart instead.

Lemme tell you this: Wal-Mart's game selection sucks. Oh, I found a copy of Fact or Crap, and Melissa grabbed a copy of Taboo, but too large a portion of the games were those silly games for kids. *sigh* Oh well, I shouldn't surprised.

Speaking of kids, I found a display of the new "Original Trilogy Collection" series of Star Wars figures. I picked up a Cloud City duel Luke Skywalker, and an IG-88, mainly because I've not gotten the droid since the relaunch of the Star Wars line in '95. (Whoa! It's been almost 10 years since Star Wars figures came back on the market?! How times flies!!!) I helped them bring home a hammock, because they wanted one. (No worries, though, I fully intend to use it when I am given the opportunity!!! Hehehe..)

I went to work this morning, and I got there before my start time. To which I say, "Finally!" Things went okay, and nothing was particularly UN-smooth, though I hated working on a day that I'm usually off. Oh well. I went to lunch at 11am and had Fazoli's, though I entertained the idea of going and getting some new jeans from the Super K-Mart across the street. I decided to wait until after work for that, though.

I came back to work, and things were SLOW. Remembering what my manager told my CSM about sending people home when it's slow, I volunteered to leave, especially since I'd been at work since 6am. Joyce asked me to put together two new hire packets, and then I could go. After I got those done, though, I had to let Annie out for a break. Then, though, I really did go. I bought those jeans, and since they were $15 a pair, I snagged five of 'em. I was in desperate need anyway, so this was wonderful timing for such a sale. I came home, checked E-mail, and decided to take a nap.

I slept nonstop from around 330pm until 840pm. I guess I needed the sleep, even if it meant that I couldn't go to Charles' to play one of our new games. I've sat up just long enough to get sleepy again, and I'm about to go back to sleep. (After one more post... but that's RPG related.)

Later, all!
tek2way: (RPG - Dungeon Master)
Well, it's been a while since I've really posted about RPGs, mainly because it's been a while since I've played an RPG. Oh, I have picked up the World of Darkness book along with Vampire: The Requiem, but I've not sat down and chucked dice in a long time. I'm defintely getting that itch to do so again.

I'm technically in three (count 'em, three) games. We haven't played the "Friday" game at Charles since before they moved, really. Since Scott moved to Mississippi, it's even harder to imagine this starting back up, since he has no phone. The Saturday game that Stephen is supposed to be running has had one session, so I've not even gotten a chance to play in it yet.

That brings us to the Sunday game, which has been on hiatus since right before August. The last session that we played was on the 25th of July. Of course, with the way things are going, we're not even going to have a group by the time I come back. Lemme illustrate:
Aron -- Taking an extended leave of absence, and not inclined to come back anytime soon.
Heather -- Decided that D&D wasn't that interesting after all.
Stephen -- Never showed up for the game, mainly because of his game.
Rick -- Had to move to PA.
Scott -- Not 100% sure he's gonna play.
Rodney -- New job MIGHT take him out of the picture.
Mike -- New course schedule at U of M might very wel prevent him from playing (again).*
That leaves Brad and me. *shakes head* I don't really know what I'll do with one player, so it's probably over. I'll wait and see if Mike can play or not, and I'm going to find out about Scott and Rodney, but I'm not terribly optimistic. *shrug* Oh well, if it falls through, then it falls through. I'll probably officially take over the "Friday" game, move it to Sunday, and see about bringing Brad into that game. I know Scott was running it, but he has said that he'd rather play than run, and until Stephen's game gets off the ground, he doesn't have that outlet.

2004 has not been the best year for games so far. Nearly every game we've started has crashed and burned. Of course, Stephen could always just run his old campaign on Sundays, and the Aric 'n' Aza Show would be back. Factor in that there are fewer players this time, and you've got even more attention focussed on us. (That was a joke, folks, though I would love to play Aric in that campaign again, even if Stephen's version of vampires are rather sissy-fied. *wink*)

I'm open and interested in running any of the following, with the understanding that very few of these would be an "ongoing" style of campaign:
  • AD&D 2nd            - 3-5 players - Mini-campaign using PlaneScape
  • d20                    - 2-6 players - Short mini-games using Dragonstar, Midnight, or Grimm
  • d20                    - 2-5 players - Mini-campiagn using Conan d20
  • d20                    - 3-5 players - Traveller 20, borrowing from d20 Future
  • d20                    - 4-5 players - d20 Future, doing that "Time Patrol" idea I had last year
  • D&D 3.5              - 2-3 players - Forgotten Realms (or Greyhawk) Gestalt
  • D&D 3.5              - 3-6 players - Dragonlance during the "War of the Lance" (after 10/01/04)
  • D&D 3.5              - 4-6 players - Eberron (the Dungeon Adventure Path)
  • World of Darkness - 2-6 players - Horror-related game, probably using Cthulhu.
  • World of Darkness - 3-5 players - using Vampire: The Requiem
  • World of Darkness - 3-6 players - using that Shadow Chasers idea from 2002
Any preferences, folks? Lemme know, because I wanna game again.
* - I'm not downing Mike for doing this. I'd rather he get through his schooling. I really enjoy playing with him, though, and he so rarely is able to play that it's frustrating when he has to quit again.
