First of all, before I forget: Winamp 5 kicks butt! I held onto Winamp 2.9 for everything I was woth, but I upgraded the other day to version 5. Listening to Blackmore's Night, I can hear things that I never did before, and it's not because my ears are clean now. :) I think that they improved the equalizer a great deal. It sounds so damn good that I feel euphoric just listening to Candace Night singing. (Not that it took much before Winamp 5, but it's even easier now. :) )

So. Work. Today. Parte the Seconde. AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it was that bad. Let's see. To begin, we have to go back to last night. I got a call from Kathy, the closing accounting person. Apparently, they had no receipt paper. (I was thinking, "Uhh, what am I supposed to do about this? I'm at home!") I asked if they had told Greg (Fowler, our Co-Manager, who was on duty), and was informed that they never got in touch with him, though they did page him. I told Kathy to write "receipt paper" on the list of things that needed to be ordered on our whiteboard in the back, and asked to speak to Greg.

Well, Greg said that we had to have paper. He claimed that the Front End people had been messaging him all night (which I believe), and that they just didn't know where to look. Sadly, that wasn't the case. First thing this morning, I had to call another store, and ask to borrow some receipt paper. Then, I got to drive there, and get it. That was one good thing about today. See, I learned that Lynn Paul, the delightful checker who gave me a vintage Empire Strikes Back-era Yoda (still in package), was working there.

Anyway, to continue the day, I thought that I had all day to do the schedule. Oh no, I didn't. While I was expected to get the schedule done today, I was still fucking supposed to run Guest Care all morning. When Joyce comes in, she gets all day. Why am I different? I rarely do the schedule, so I think I should be allotted at least the normal time to do it. Anyway, needless to say, I didn't get it started properly today.

Things got busy, and I never fully got started, though I worked through lunch trying to do so. (I took my lunch, but never actually sat down and forgot about work. Dammit.)

So, work ended, and I came home, Smirnoff Ices (2-24 oz) in hand, planning to work on the schedule here. Know what? I'm not gonna do it. In the time it took to do this post (about 30 minutes or so), I finished both of them AND my freedom French bread pizza. I'm full, buzzing hard as hell, and ready to watch a comedy. So, without further ado, I'm gonna watch The Ladies' Man.

Yeah.... That's cool. :)

Wow.. I feel better. :-P

I just kicked back, and watched The Ladies' Man, and relaxed. It was the first time today, I think. I'm much more clear-headed now, I'm much more even-tempered now, and I'm nowhere near as agitated as I was when I came home from work.

I still doubt that I'm gonna do the Accounting/Guest Care/U-Scan part of the schedule, though. :) (Seriously, I might work on it a bit, but I'm not gonna try to finish it. If I get to it, great. If I don't, oh well.)

I was reminded of something that happened yesterday, that I totally forgot to put in my post, probably because I was too focused on Luke Skywalker's fashion sense.

I was going through the dead mail (archived paperwork) for last week, trying to figure out how we managed to lose $316, most of it at the end of the week. I had opened the manila envelope, and perused its contents, leaving some stuff in it. Well, I realized I needed something that had been left in it, and reached over to grab it. Now, I didn't bother looking, mainly because I just had to get my hand on it, and close that hand. Seems simple, right?

Nope. Not at all. Not even remotely. Apparently, I managed to become possibly the first person in history to have had his palm laid open by none other than...

the little metal clasp on a manila envelope.

Now, I don't mean a little cut. I'm talking about an incision, almost surgical in nature, about an inch long, and deep enough that I had to cup my hand to keep the blood from dripping to the ground. It took two Band-Aids, covered by two more (to hold the first ones in place), to keep the blood from continuing to flow.

Weird, huh? I guess the Cosmos aligned properly just to hurt me.*

Well, I'm gonna look at that schedule, and then I'm gonna continue reading Kristen Britain's First Rider's Call, the sequel to the truly awesome Green Rider. Or, I'll play the Sims. Ya can't rule that out, ya know. *wink*

* - Now, is this truth, or just a sign of how negative I really am? THAT is the question! :)

Celestial Seasonings' "Tension Tamer" tea. However, since I don't have that handy right now, it's gotta be... Celestial Seasonings' "Mint Magic" tea. Add in a stick of incense (green, piney smell, but called "Opium"), put on Blackmore's Night (mix of things - mainly "Fires at Midnight"), and settle down to read a good book (Kristen Britain's "First Rider's Call"), to complete the recipe. :)
