Of course, I think I've used that before, so how different is it? :)
Anyway, as my brief note yesterday said, I've fixed my car. It runs again. (I should point out that, while I began working on it on Saturday, I didn't bother with it again until yesterday. I just was annoyed and didn't feel like it. Besides, it's not like I had anywhere to be, ya know? *grin*) I don't know why, but that top bolt was on there so tight that we ran a significant risk of stripping it. In fact, the only reason why I thought we broke it was because I thought it had been stripped, and decided to try to see if it would turn at all before breaking out the vice grips. Shining a light into that miniscule space, I noticed that the bolt turned when I moved the wrench.
It took another hour or so of working at it, and trading off with Aron, but we got it. Then, I changed the spark plugs, wires, and the oil. I then came inside to wait on my dad. Ironically - or fortunately - enough, he showed up maybe 10 minutes after I came inside. I didn't have to go to the dealer for the solenoid, because it comes attached to the starter.*
Aron and I got started on putting it in when I got back from AutoZone with my dad. It took us maybe 30 minutes, if that. (Imagine that! Since the bolt wasn't being a jerk, we were able to put it back in FASTER than it took to break it out.) It actually took us longer to get the battery back in the car than the starter, and that was mainly because I forgot the support bar in the battery cover, and then I had to remove the handle from the battery, before I got it in finally. Let me tell you, that cover is a MERF to take back off once its on.
We put the hood back on it, and then cleaned up. We watched Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace last night, but then again, we've watched a Star Wars movie every night this week (Monday - Empire Strikes Back, Tuesday - Star Wars, Wednesday - Return of the Jedi). Yeah, I know they're out of order, but that's because I wanted to watch Empire, and when we watched it, it wasn't a conscious decision to watch every movie this week. :)
I just finished overhauling my Outlook Contact list and Message Rules. Unlike most people, I almost never see spam, simply because I have it set up so that, if you're not in my contact list, you go straight to my trash. (Note to people who may be planning on mailing me: Put something in the message header to convince me to open it, because I *DO* scan the headers before I permanently delete the messages.)
Now, I'm going to shower, and Aron and I are gonna do some running around today. All this Star Wars has had the adverse effect on me of causing me to get my jedi action figures and the family Fett from storage, and to array them around my desk. :) Of course, I looked at the new figures that are coming out, because I had to.**
Oh, and tomorrow should be my first session in Stephen's new game. I am playing a half-elf ranger/druid from the Eldeen Reaches in Eberron. Of course, I'll be in Caeln, like Aric Seles and Ashe Haydon are. The timeline, though, is a little off. We're showing up there BEFORE Aric & Co. arrive.
Anyway, I'm off today and tomorrow, and I'm gonna enjoy them.
* - Apparently, in most cars, the solenoid is a completely separate item that can be replaced on its own, while the starter can be rebuilt by a home mechanic. In Saturns, however, the starter is not end-user-reparable, so the solenoid just comes with the new starter.
** - No, really, I did. I have loved Star Wars action figures since I was about 3-4 years old. No matter that Todd McFarlane makes far more detailed figures. There's just something magical about Star Wars figures.
