Well, aside from doing Time & Attendance on Sunday, I'm off until the Sunday after that. (For those keeping score, that means that I'm off - barring Sunday - until the 8th of August.) My week this week has been the polar opposite of last week, with me leaving work each day in a pretty dang good mood, more or less. I've come home, and piddled around with ideas for Stephen's Saturday game until it was time to go to bed.
That is, until today. Today, my car was running rougher than normal, and I was concerned about it. I figured that I was going to have to get a battery, since it didn't start on the first crank, but I had no idea that what was going to happen, did.
When I arrived home, I pulled into my normal spot. However, since I knew I was going to be working on it a bit (checking fluids, filters, and belts while replacing the battery), I cranked it so I could back out, and then back in my driveway. Well, it didn't start on the first one again. I was genuinely concerned this time, so when I got settled into place, I turned it off, and tried to start it again.
Nothing.
Not a single lick. The starter didn't even turn over, which has me more than a little worried. (Could it be the starter or alternator instead of the battery? The battery IS pretty dang old, though..) So, when my dad gets home, I'm going to see if I can boost it off, and go over a few things with him. Then, if we agree it's the battery, I'll see if he can take me to get one. (Whew, am I glad I decided to hold off on paying those two credit cards until next week, since I felt that I needed to have the money available.)
While I'm there, I'm gonna grab more windshield wiper blades, more spark plugs and wires, and a few other odds and ends that I've been meaning to buy lately.
Of course, if it's not the battery, then I imagine that I'll be shelling out more than I expected, and not getting plugs, wires, or blades. Heck, I might not even be getting gas. (Alternators have a nasty way of being really effing pricey.)
As Alanis Morrisette once said, "Isn't it ironic, don't you think?" since I just paid my car off two weeks ago today.
More when I find it out..
