For those unfamiliar with the terminology, a MegaCorp is a term that I first saw in cyberpunk reading, such as Shadowrun books and William Gibson novels. Basically, a MegaCorp is a business organization that has amassed so much wealth and power that it's almost above the law. In the early 80's, AT&T was taking the first baby steps towards that goal, when it was hit as the monopoly it was.
Modern examples include AOL/Time Warner and Microsoft. The next entry into the MegaCorp field might very well be Comcast/Disney. I may sound like an anti-globalization, paranoid, conspiracy theorist, but I just think that you don't have to be a genius - or paranoid - to realize that these mergers can not be good in the long term.
*shrug* I'm a wage slave at Kroger, a national company that still has striking workers in southern California. They own their own bakeries, egg farms, fisheries, and manufacturing plants. Who am I - really - to talk?
