...getting Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere" on DVD. Hooray for the British!! Well.. it may not be happiness incarnate, but I think it's pretty neat. Basically, I went to Best Buy today, supposedly to get some replacement speakers for my car, since the ones in there are blown, and are beginning to sound like it, too. Unfortunately, they didn't have any 7 inch speakers, which is what my Saturn has in it. Such an odd size. I find it annoying.

Since I was there, I decided I would pick up a DVD or two. Aron noticed The Tick on DVD. I'm talking about the live-action version. That show is a hoot. Seeing that it was cheaper than another season of Buffy, I picked it up for Aron. I grabbed a widescreen edition of Underworld as well. I do feel guilty that I did, since my aunt bought me my full-screen copy, but I don't like full screen at all. Finally, I grabbed Neverwhere, since I saw it suddenly.

Finally, on the way to the checkstands, I saw Boondock Saints for only $10, and grabbed that too. Yeah, I spent too much, but at least I didn't spend it all on myself. Right?

Ahem. Anyway, I just finished watching The Tick, and it was great. I have to get up early tomorrow, so that I can go to our union meeting, and vote on the contract we were offered. It doesn't look horrible, but I think it could be better.

Skipping around, I forgot something else memorable: I got my W-2 in from Kroger today; however, I didn't get the 1099 from my bank about the interest my account has accrued. I have an idea on how to circumvent this, but not tonight. I gotta sleep.

I do love to play them. That's why I found myself at Kevin's Attic yesterday. I picked up the D&D3.5 character sheets and the DM Screen. Nice all around. I also decided that, since I'm about to begin a game of Shadowrun with Brad and everyone, that new dice were in order. I spent 15 minutes carefully choosing a set of dice, of various colors, but all with pips instead of numbers. (It seems required for Shadowrun to have pip dice instead of traditional RPing dice.) After I was done, I had 32 dice that was going to run me around $11.

I dumped them back in the bucket. :) Instead, I bought a brick of 36 dice for $7. They're vaguely nauseating, but I don't think Mike will mind. I like them for some reason. At any rate they've spent most of this morning sealed in their case, with the "6" on each die facing up, and oriented the same way.* Oh yeah, I'm rather geeky that way.

Anyway, I related the rest of last night, so I'll skip ahead to this morning.

I woke up, showered, and went to Kroger to pick up Joyce. I was driving us to the Union Meeting where we were to vote to ratify the contract that our bargaining committee came up with. I was surprised, it wasn't too bad. Sure, there were things that would have been nice if they'd been bigger, but what we got was pretty good, and I think rejecting this contract would only cause things to go downhill for us. So, I'll live with my raises, and be secure that I still don't have to pay for insurance (yet).

After coming home, I went through several D&D books, and pulled the lists of Undead from each. I have some really wicked ideas involving vampires and a world with a dying sun. This should be a blast. I hope I can move a little more quickly than I did with the Dragonlance game idea. (Since that's all but still born now. *sigh*)

* - It's a popular gamer superstition that if you leave dice facing up on the side you want them to roll, that they will "learn" to roll to display that number. Hence, the "6" being highest.

There's also the superstition about allowing no one but yourself to touch your dice. I've known people to get violent about it. Really.
