tek2way: (LotR - The One Ring)
Contrary to the title above, I did not drink anything tonight. The thing is, though, that I got up at 330am on Friday morning. The time, as I write this, is 1250am. That's nearly 21.5 hours straight. Let's recap the long, strange* road I had to take to get here:

First, my alarm went off at 330am, like it has been for a while, so I could grab a quick shower and take my dad to work. That went pretty smoothly, though he had a BUNCH of stuff to drop off, courtesy of our shopping trip last night.

Work was rather mundane today, at least early. Tim closed last night, so most of the major work was done. That's how it's supposed to be, too. The day before, I had seven tills to count, and I had UScan to count Wednesday morning. Sheesh. At any rate, things went smoothly for the first part of the day.

The day didn't get rough until I had to deal with one of our new employees, who doesn't know when to shut her stupid mouth. She asked what she had worked so far since starting, and when I was telling her (broken down, because training and regular hours are different) she interrupted me after the FIRST item, and said, "No, that's wrong." You can imagine how I reacted.** After we both settled down a bit, and she asked about her pay. I told her what was in the computer, but tried to state that it might not be the same due to differences with HR and our store. (They could have built in a "fake" pay, just so she had a clock number. HR would handle the correct amount.) I went to lunch when I got her off the phone.

During lunch, I had to talk to our CSR for the Tennessee Lottery. We got our signage, as well as the dispenser boxes for the lottery. I think it'll be neat, personally. I called Joyce, and broke down what each item was about. After lunch, I had to "tweak" the schedule. This is not fun. I got the right shifts covered, though we had too many hours. I also got a sense of unease around Dana again. Probably because she had a fit involving Faye. Stupid woman. *sigh*

I swung by Shana's, since I couldn't make it to the theatre in time. We hung out and talked a bit. I helped her with her computer, and we went to see Return of the King around 8pm. The movie rocked, though I kept falling asleep after the Battle of Pelennor Fields. We came home, and I made it back here with some level of consciousness.

Now, instead of going to bed, I'm forcing myself to do a post. I wish I would learn better. G'night, all..

* - This translates into English as "Boring."
** - I have stated before how having my skill at payroll called into question puts me on the defensive. I get short as a result.

Well, I made it to bed last night, and slept like the dead. I woke up at 8am, and couldn't help but smile at being able to sleep past 330am. I promptly rolled over, and went back to sleep. Of course, I only slept until 830, but I felt rested enough to get up, and figured that I could always take a nap if I got sleepy.

So, I have been sitting here nearly all that time since. I did break once to go have breakfast, because my mom was cooking bacon. Mmm.. That stuff is good! I've also been finding internet radio stations to add to winamp. I have 15GBs of mp3s, and I want to be surprised at what I hear. :) With 10 stations in my playlist, I'm sure to get something that's unexpected. :)

What am I going to do today? Well, I know that I have to take my dad to my uncle's later. [livejournal.com profile] makeshift_guru better be ready to go with me, since I'm going to want someone to talk to on the way back. Aside from that, though, I'm unsure. I don't really want to read, since I can save that for this evening before I go to sleep. I could see what new things I can work on in my campaign. I'm sure that there's something I can work on. In fact, I just thought of something. :) I better go get started.

Today has been pretty relaxing. Granted, I did not get a chance to work on my campaign, but hey, who cares?

I'm feeling... ambivalent towards the idea right now. I think I am coming to realize that I'm going to be most interested in whatever is my current fascination. For example, when I got the Midnight campaign setting, I was most interested in that. When I began reading the War of Souls, I really got back into Dragonlance. When I saw Return of the King, I wanted to do a Middle-Earth story.

Right now, I'm feeling a need to flesh out a world that is set in Oliver Johnson's novel, The Forging of the Shadows. It's dark, morbid, dangerous, and is an interesting variation on the established fantasy world. So, I'm going to take a laid back approach to things, and see how they turn out for me. I might decide to do something with Kalamar after all. Of course, Eberron looks VERY interesting, with its elements of steampunk, Final Fantasy, dinosaurs, standard D&D, and Raiders of the Lost Ark-style high adventure. Dawnforge and Morningstar are alluring because of their concept of "golden age" heroes.

I'm going to have to think long and hard about this. Perhaps I just want to play in Stephen's world more?

Anyway, aside from learning new words to describe how I feel, I took my dad to my uncle's place, so that they can go to Fayette county tomorrow and get his new truck. My uncle lives on the land where my grandparents lived for years, until finally my grandfather died a few years ago. The house was torn down, mainly because it was run-down anyway. Now, my uncle has a trailer home there. Oh yeah, he lives in Tipton county. For my non-local friends, imagine the iconic "country" that you always hear about. Horses, barns, people knowing everyone. That's what it's like out there. "Civilization" is slowly creeping out there, but it's taking a while.

After I came back, I watched Boondock Saints and The Mask of Zorro. I enjoyed Boondock Saints quite a bit, at least once I reached the half-way point. I loved Zorro. Seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones looking all hot and swinging a sword was just a perk. *snicker*

Anyway, I work tomorrow 5a-1p doing payroll, and then have the game at Brad's. Tomorrow is the moment of truth. By this time tomorrow, I'll know more about Alath ed Oethandri than I do now. *knocks on wood* Let's hope it's positive, eh? :)
