It seemed like such a neat quiz to do. Shame I got Wizard. I woulda really dug getting paladin. *shrug* Oh well. :)

Today has been a LAZY day. I slept until noon, more or less (woke up for a couple of hours early in the morning), and spent the better part of the day using Excel to create a auto-filling 3.5 character sheet. I learned some new tricks involving Excel as a result, too. :) Of course, the final product is ugly, but it's serviceable. And, I can always steal the formatting for the sheet from someone else's spreadsheet. It's not like I'm going to release it on the net.

I did some work on the campaign, and I feel like I made progress. An interesting bit of information for those who expect to eventually run in my game: The more I work on this idea, the more I shift back to pure Dragonlance. Very little of Midnight remains. It's not really that I don't like Midnight; it's more that I really like Dragonlance. Strangely, I realize that the way the campaign idea is evolving is turning it into a prequel of my original idea. :) Neat, huh?

I work tomorrow, and I guess I'm okay with it, but I really got used to my days off in a row again, so this is kinda annoying. For now, though, I should go to bed.

Oh yeah, and I'm going to Kevin's mom's house on Thursday to put up her Christmas lights. (I've been doing this since 1994 or so. It's a tradition, more or less.)

I was lying in bed, reading through the AD&D 2nd Edition Tome of Magic. You see, I am converting one of my old characters for use in the campaign idea I have, and I needed to check out a couple of spells, to see what their 3rd Edition equivalents were. A funny thing happened, then. The more I looked at the book, the more I found myself wishing that I could run a 2nd Edition game. I really want to use the 2nd Edition rules, especially now that I understand more about how they work. It also would be a nice change of pace, not to mention it would make running a Dragonlance or PlaneScape game that much easier.

*sigh* The older I get, the more I miss AD&D, 2nd Edition. It had a feel to the system that just isn't there in 3rd, no matter how streamlined and cleaned up it is.

For the time being, I will continue to work on the 3rd editioin game, but I must admit that a very strong desire to run it using an earlier ruleset is growing. And, contrary to popular belief, it's not that difficult to figure out.

EDIT: And running a 2nd Edition game would let me finally finish Moonlight Madness, the last 2nd Edition module I tried to run.

I just won a copy of the first D&D Box Set I ever got...

This was the first thing I picked up, after buying and reading Dragonlance Adventures, the hardcover 1e supplement. I had no clue what the difference was between AD&D and D&D, and I got the first thing that seemed to give me what I need. Of course, I knew nothing about dice, so I was very fortunate that this box set had them. For reasons unknown to me, I gave those dice away a couple of years later.

Oh well, I have the set again, and I even got an extra. *wonders what will be in the "First Quest" box*
