... because I sure didn't.
I was running LATE to work today. I clocked in at 606am. Granted, I'm not docked pay for that, but I've been doing very well lately, and this messes up my stride. I got in a really bad mood, really quick. I tried not to snap at the morning checker, because she had done nothing to deserve it. I snagged some beef jerky (I didn't have time for yogurt at home, and I wasn't in the mood for it when I got to work.)
She suggested I sit down, relax for a moment, and give myself time to calm down. I sat down with my Complete Idiot's Guide to Astronomy, as well as a telescope catalog I got in the mail recently. I flipped through the catalog, astounded by how much I understood about the specifications of the telescopes, just from 6 chapters worth of the CIG: Astronomy. After about 15 minutes, I finished the jerky, and was calm again. Honestly, I was probably in a mid-range mood, but that was considerably better than I was earlier. I settled down to work, and despite interruptions galore, I finished on time.
I wound up running U-Scan again, so I got to do some more reading. I didn't learn any mathematical formulae today, but I learned a bit about radio astronomy, the VLA, and the electromagnetic spectrum. It's occurred to me that I am learning stuff about astronomy, and the nature of space in general, that I never knew before.
Cool.
