Years ago, back in 1998, I first used the name "tek2way" on AOL. It was the first time I had tried to use my old handle in this strange, new world. As you can see I had to adapt it from what it originally was (Tech-2-way). I set it up on Charles' AOL account. After a while, I moved out of Charles' place, but I still used the name in AIM. No big deal, right?
Apparently, wrong.
I haven't been able to log into that account for the past day. I thought it might be because I'm using Trillian, so I installed AIM to see. AIM won't log me in either, and gives, as a reason, "suspended account." I clicked on "More Details", and learned that when an AOL account is removed, the AIM account ceases to function. Thus, apparently my friend Charles has finally heeded my advice, and cancelled his AOL account. (He kept it, even when he was using RoadRunner for an internet connection.)
Since he's cancelled it, though, I've lost my oldest active handle on the 'Net. *sigh*
From now on, folks, if you had "tek2way" as your AIM contact on me, use "Aric Seles" instead.
