Well, I got up on Sunday morning at the usual time, and got to work, as usual, late. Oh well, it's not like I care any more.
When I arrived, though, I was in for an unpleasent shock: The End-of-Week had not yet been run, so I was effectively immediately an hour behind, since I had to do the close. To say that I wasn't expecting to have to do this would be an understatement. I was expecting something along the lines of getting things ready downstairs, and head upstairs in time to train the person who's supposed to cover Time & Attendance during my vacation next week. She was due in at 7am.
Well, 7am came, and even though I wasted no time, read no paper, and hustled, I wasn't done. I sighed, and went upstairs when I realized that she wasn't likely to wait the other hour for me to finish. I figured I would show her how to do the run errors, and that would take her about an hour to do them all. It took her an hour, all right. An hour to learn how to do it. By that time, Joyce had come in, and was downstairs finishing up. I was at least relieved to know that I wasn't the only one expecting the close to have been done.
We finished the Time & Attendance paperworkaround 1040a. Bless her soul, my trainee didn't leave early, even though her church began at 1045a. I thanked her immensely, since I don't want to be bothered by work next week at all. I then had to go downstairs and try to help alleviate the total chaos that was our front end. For some reason, people feel that the best time to go shopping is on the holiday. How stupid can you be?
Work eventually ended, and I came home. We were gaming at Brad's today, since he had his daughter, and couldn't go anywhere with her. He made pizza for us that was AWESOME. I mean, WAY too good for mere words. We had a blast gaming, and everyone but Rick and Stephen showed up. We got three more letters, and I decoded them lightning fast, since I cracked them before.
Aron and I dropped Mike off, and came home. I sat down at my computer to do an update, when I noticed the wet spot on my bed. I thought I was going to get to kill a cat, but when I smelled it, it wasn't urine. I looked up, and that's when I noticed the leak in my ceiling. Getting closer, I double checked. Sure enough, it was water. I informed my parents, and set out my pillows to dry, and put a towel on my bed. I was up until around 12a, when I was exhausted, and realized the bed was dry enough. I had extra pillows.
This morning, Aron took a look at it, and we've found out the problem: When my parents had the roof redone by a friend of the family, the guy cut major corners, going so far as to not even put down new tar paper under the roofing shingles, let alone replacing boards that need it. So, unless they decide they don't need my help, my first day of vacation will be spent replacing the roof over my room and Aron's. *sigh*
Oh, and I watched Strongbad's E-mail this morning. The new one was funny, but I watched last week's again, and I got inspiration for a new LJ icon. Thus, I'm premiering it now. :) Hope you like it. :)
