This particular piece is rather ironic in its own right. I wasn't even thinking about Aric at the time I was listening to this song. It called out to me. I felt that there was something to this song, and, upon reading the lyrics, I realized that I had found the perfect song for Aric Seles.
Now, to recap: Aric Seles was born a normal kid. Growing up was the typically pleasent/unpleasent thing it usually is for children. Until that horrific year that he went to stay with his uncle and aunt. Someone was in town, and there was an air of wrongness about him. Suffice to say that, by the end of less than a few days, the stranger was gone, Aric's uncle and the entire village council was dead, and Aric was mentally scarred for life.
Years passed, and no one even acknowledged what occurred that fateful day. Aric, however, would never forget. He swore, upon all that he held Holy, that he would find the demon that devastated his youth, and make it pay. To this end, he began to train with a variety of swords and other weapons. He was most accomplished with a bastard sword, though. When he was old enough, he was accepted as a squire His mentor taught him that he must find inner peace, and through that, he would avenge himself. Aric began to dedicate himself to his religious studies, in addition to honing his combat prowess.
Very soon, Aric was a skilled philosopher, an expert tactician, and a master swordsman. He knew there was more to learn, but he couldn't learn it by following his mentor any longer. Hoisting his only possessions on his back, Aric set out, not knowing what dangers the road may bring. Keeping his faith, he has persevered against all manner of monsters, evil men, and temptation. However, in the dark of night, he sometimes finds himself screaming himself awake from a nightmare in which all he can remember is a hand dancing a sickly colored green gem across its knuckles.
I feel that this song is representative of Aric, in that (as I interpret it) it's about one who overcomes his fears, and learns that things are better. Aric certainly has at least ONE significant fear that he must overcome, and when he has, things will be better. So, without further ado, here's:
Eagleheart
By:: Stratovarius
All through the night he is lying awake
Wond'ring how much more can he take
Watching the walls where shadows dance
Drifting away into a trance
And his eyes are blazing with fire
Dreams burnt to ashes so many times
Highest of mountains, still he climbs
Ready to fly, cause he just can't stay
Flame burning brighter with everyday
And his eyes are blazing with fire
Longing for the deepest desire
Heart of an eagle
He flies through the rainbow
Into a new world and finds the sun
Spreading his wings
Above all the sorrow
The glory of Eagleheart
Fever is burning in his veins
Determined with courage, breaking the chains
Back against the wall under blood red skies
Prepared to fight until he dies
And his eyes are blazing with fire
Longing for the deepest desire
Heart of an eagle
He flies through the rainbow
Into a new world and finds the sun
Spreading his wings
Above all the sorrow
The glory of Eagleheart
