I haven't burned anything with my DVD burner in a long time. In part, it's because I have a large hard drive, and space isn't that kind of premium. Mainly, though, it has been because my drive does bad things with the internal read buffer while it burns, so I have to leave the computer alone to ensure that it burns okay, which isn't normally possible given how much I'm at my computer.

Yesterday, though, I decided that I wanted to start cleaning it off so that I could finally get around to doing a 100% clean, fresh install of Windows (on both drives -- usually I leave D alone, and just format C). I burned disc 1 no sweat (outside of the problem I just mentioned). I even had Nero verify the data written to it. I burned disc 2 last night, and went to bed (actually used the shutdown feature). I woke this morning to find that Windows won't read the DVD, but that Nero sees what's on there already. I burned without a multisession, so it perplexes me.

So, I grabbed disc 1, and popped it into my drive.... only for Windows to ask what I wanted to do with a blank CD!!! Understand, I deleted the stuff that made up disc 1 last night, after I saw that the data was verified, the burn had completed successfully.

So, two and a half gigs of stuff, gone. I can only hope that a) it isn't irreplaceable, and b) the DVD can be read in another computer.

*sigh*

I work 6am-3pm today, doing payroll for at least half of it. Maybe I can get out of there a LITTLE early, so that I can come home and get ready to do some sealed deck Magic: The Gathering action (the guys and I got to talking about this last night, and realized it'd be cool to do again). At least, it'll get my mind off my DVD, eh?

Later.
