So, uh.. *looks at last post*
Oh yeah! I've not posted since Saturday evening, for which I'm moderately ashamed, but I have a good reason. Honest. :)
I went in on
SUNDAY
at midnight, so I could work my aisles (cereal/crackers and paper towels/trash bags), and still have time to do payroll. Of course, Daylight Saving Time* finally ended, so there was an "extra" hour. Let me tell you, nothing's quite as disorienting as having that extra hour come while you're awake, and not able to sleep anytime soon. I managed, though I certainly confused myself when I reset my phone so it had the right time. When I looked at it later, I couldn't remember if I'd set it right or if I'd not yet done so.
The stocking bit went like clockwork, and was rather enjoyable, since I have my lovely iPod to keep me company. (I've even made a custom playlist -- as I think I may have mentioned -- to help me pass the night. I should post it sometime. Is there any interest?) Around 430a (530 CDT -- or 5.5 hours into my shift), I went upstairs to begin doing payroll. It was then I noticed what was certainly my first problem of the day: I was beginning payroll an hour and a half before the accounting person was to come in to do the end of week. (Normally, I would do that, too, but since I'm in Grocery, it's not my job. Odd, though, that payroll is.)
Well, I thought, I could just do EVERYTHING about payroll but for the figures that require the end of week reports. No sweat. Things went well after that, until around 630am CST. By that point, I was as done as I could be without the reports. Sure enough, despite my help downstairs, I didn't get done with payroll until 8am CST, or 9 hours after I got there. Yay, overtime.
I came home, watched Spider-Man 3 (good movie), and slept instead of going with my guild to Karazhan. As a result, I felt moderately refreshed when I got up Sunday night for my 10p-6a shift. I needed it, because I spent the night conditioning the aisles. This means I made everything look all pretty and straight. While I did that, the Grocery Manager placed orders to catch up with some out of stocks we'd accrued while he was on vacation last week. I barely finished the whole store before it was time to go. By then, it was
MONDAY
...morning, and I got to skip past most of the morning rush hour traffic on my way home. I grabbed some sausage biscuits and a hash brown from McDonald's, or thought I did. The McDonald's on Covington Pike left my hash brown out of my order. (It wasn't particularly complex, either.) I'll just settle for never going there again. I tried sleeping, but couldn't until 9am, and then, I woke up around 1145a, and couldn't get back to sleep. Getting up to go see Comic Cellar's new location, I also found out that I had to pay the water bill. No worries, all was handled promptly.
Coming home, I played a little WoW until I began to feel tired, around 400pm. Of course, that's when apartment maintenance showed up to fix our toilet, so I didn't get to bed until around 5pm (but I was able to help the maintenance man out, by pointing him in the direction of where he can get some old Tarzan movies on DVD -- yay, Internet!). I worked 9p-5a, and we had a HUGE order to put away. I didn't finish stocking the cereal aisle until sometime around 4am. I spent the last hour working paper products as fast as I could, but still didn't get done before I had to leave. I came home, though, and on...
TUESDAY
...morning, I passed out like a light at 7a, and slept until noon.
I got up, put away the clean dishes, reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen sink up, did some laundry, straightened up my room some, and made my bed. I made dinner (shake 'n' bake chicken, mac 'n' cheese, and green beans), and played a little WoW again, this time helping
lordreaibn with one of his characters. I stole a short nap before work, though, and went to work feeling fine.
However, as the night wore on, my knees and elbows began to hurt. I don't think I'm doing anything bad to them, but I will say that I don't usually stand up/sit down on a milk crate as much in one night as I do when I'm stocking/conditioning. Heh, exercise? :) Anyway, I finished up and came right on home. I *loved* how cold it is outside, too!! Gimme lows like that year-round! :)
I had chicken sammiches out of the leftover chicken from last night, and I decided to post in my LJ. :) Now, I imagine that I'm gonna catch some Z's. I'm off tonight, so who knows what I'm going to be up to later?
* -- Thank you,
sc0ttyb for making such a big deal about the correct way it's said. I can't NOT think of your post (from months back) when I see it mentioned. :)
