tek2way: (Music - Dead Winter Dead)
Clearly, I need to work on the whole "go to bed on time" deal. There might just be something to getting enough sleep at night. When my alarm went off this morning, I was so groggy, I couldn't even figure out what day of the week it was. Since I'd purchased cereal yesterday, I had breakfast instead of skipping it. This caused me to run late to work. Well, that or my apathy about getting to work this morning.

I arrived 20 minutes late, but quickly caught up to where my mental timer said I should be, and went upstairs 15 minutes earlier than normal. Payroll went okay, though, with the "lean back and close my eyes" naps happening only once or twice (seriously, once I truly fell asleep -- glad I woke back up). Lunch was lackluster, because I found no one inside the Fazoli's I went to (it was weird), and Lenny's apparently doesn't open until 1130am on Sundays, which ruled out a sub. My deli wasn't finished setting out lunch, so that was out. What'd I wind up having? A can of Chef Boyardee Spaghetti & Meatballs. Joy. (I've not been a fan in a while, since I saw how many calories are in one can, but when you're hungry, and going into the break room is not a voluntary action, your choices are limited.)

Consequently, I've decided that I'm going to begin taking my lunch again. It could get boring at times, but at least I'd eat it. :) And, of course, yogurt and apple sauce are yummy. Also, if I get up early enough to make it, I could also have a good breakfast. Anyone know what fruits are best mixed into cereal? I know about bananas, and I think strawberries. Anything else?

Toward the end of my shift, though, something happened. I don't know. I crashed, or something. All I know is that my mood went from rather good to rather foul in the span of about 10 minutes. I'd been feeling good, joking with a co-worker on the floor, and then suddenly I began to think that I was making a fool of myself, and that I needed to shut up. It waxed and waned until I left. I came home jamming X-Japan's "Art of Life", which made me feel better, even if it didn't make me happier. I promptly laid down for a nap, which lasted 2 hours.

Now, I feel much better (and happier), and I've already made dinner, which was some leftover baked beans and a hamburger. High cuisine it ain't, but it's filling, and I tried for the "moderate portions" thing in an effort to begin to cut down on my intake.

I also noticed something about me today: Whenever I let my mind wander, daydreaming about something in real life, I automatically rein it in when I get to a point where I imagine something that's far-fetched. It's like I'm in a dual role of participant and observer, and when the participant is about to have the girl of his dreams walk through the door, the observer says, "Cut!" Explaining it like this, it sounds like that normal reflex a person has when daydreaming, but it feels like something more than that. Am I so concerned about "the real world" that I have to peepee in my own Cheerios when I'm just taking a break from the mundane? More importantly, is this "censoring" of my daydreams having a negative effect on my ability to dream up scenarios and situations when I run D&D or when I try to begin writing a story? Y'know, is stopping my daydreams causing a similar reaction when I "daydream" another way: thinking of imaginary stuff.

I've wondered for a while if the stress surrounding my job and, to a lesser extent, my life is having an adverse impact on my creativity. I'm sure playing World of Warcraft as much as I had been was no help, either. Oh, and on a side note, even though I've reactivated my account, I've had absolutely NO desire, urge, nor inclination to log in. It's almost like I had to pay another month just to finally divest myself of the desire to play. While I loved WoW, I consider this a positive occurrence. Now, I can focus on improving my mind, body, and health. Well, more so than before. :)

And yes, I'm particularly fond of my new default icon. I think I'm going to do an Iron Maiden icon too, now that I think about it. Take care, folks. (I hope someone read this far. :) )

EDIT: I did said icon, and about 9 others. This post's icon is my favorite of this new batch.
