Yesterday was.. interesting, to be sure. I woke up early, did the breakfast/shower/dress bit, and then left, at 710am, for Tunica. See, that's where this year's Local 1529 Shop Steward Conference is being held. The part that makes it so bad is that I'd been given a chance to get a room down there, but I screwed up. *I* didn't bother to read thoroughly, so I figured it was at the same place as last year, which was at the Holiday Inn at Airways and Democrat. That's, given rush hour traffic, around 30 minutes travel time home, going by Airways to Central Ave.
It's about an hour to get from Tunica back home, and that is with the improved stretch of highway by downtown. (Believe it or not, despite there being two lanes only, traffic flowed rather smoothly. 'Twas nice.) Still, I got to listen to quite a bit of music, and enjoy the scenery a bit, too. I've not been down to Tunica since sometime around 1992, when we piled into my buddy's car, and drove to Splash Casino for the heck of it. For that matter, I've NEVER been to a casino, either. (I'm not keen on starting, either. I was rather pleased that the conference is in the Grand Casino's CONVENTION CENTER, which means I still haven't been in a casino. :) )
I got home, and finally decided on a feat for Tedros, my monk in
lordreaibn's D&D game that I'm playing in this afternoon. It's nothing fancy. Just one that lets me move full speed over difficult terrain and when climbing. I watched
strieson play some Mechwarrior (computer game), and found myself vaguely interested in learning more about Battletech. *shrug* We'll see.
Finally, I also have decided on a familiar for my rogue/enchanter on Sunday. Since his background has Unseelie Court, but he's actually a good guy, I found a CG celestial that is comparable to the Imp/Quasit. The nice thing is that it is pretty much a TinkerBell-type monster, except about 2 feet tall instead of 8 inches. Now, I gotta talk with
nyminal, and see about shrinking it down to the aforementioned 8 inches. I want something that's mostly flavor, rather than a real force to be reckoned with, and a toad/bat/rat/cat just don't cut it.
Well, I have to go back out there for that conference today, but at least I'm done with it around noon, so I'll beat rush hour traffic for my trip home. Not only that, but I'm off on Thursday. :) Go me! :)
More to come, as I think of it...
