tek2way: (Music - Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I)
Lately, I've been thinking about the Fey (Sidhe, Seelie & Unseelie Courts, etc..). I've always found the stories of them fascinating, but I've decided to include them in the campaign setting I'm designing. After all, that's what elves and gnomes were originally classified as, before D&D (and perhaps Tolkien) altered them to suit. I have had a hard time finding proper information about the two faerie courts online, so I picked up a book from Borders today, that talked about Faeries in detail. While there, I saw a book I owned, that talked about the two courts.

When I came home, I looked for the book. I didn't see it, which meant that I had put it up in storage with my other books. (That's a large number, folks, though perhaps not mind-boggling.) I shrugged it off, and read a bit of the book I got today (Faeries, by Brian Froud & Alan Lee), before dozing off due to a massive allergy attack. (I have been rather unhappy for the last two days, because of how my sinuses have been mopping the floor with my face.) Waking up later, I learned that my nightly discussion went poof (not that I was going to participate, but the other party couldn't either). We decided to reschedule it, and I spent some time in front of my computer.

I decided that I wanted to read more about the two faerie courts, and went to dig for it in storage. While in there, I ran across a box I did not recognize. Sifting through the top couple of layers, I realized it had stuff that I considered mine.....years ago. I took it down, and went through it in my room more thoroughly. In that box, I found:
  • the 1991 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue (11 Feb 1991)
  • a teeny Jack Daniels bottle (empty)
  • the stub to the very first concert I ever attended (Debbie Gibson; 16 July 1988)
  • the first page from the program of said concert
  • about a year's worth of Astronomy magazine from 1993
  • the February 1993 Advance Comics (catalog of upcoming releases -- had a story about the Ninjak comic)
  • my third grade class picture (the whole class.. I was amazed at how many names I remembered)
  • two empty McDonald's french fry containers, from when they were doing the Jurassic Park promotion
  • the circus program from the time in 1986 that I didn't get to go to, because I'd mutilated my foot and knee in a bicycle accident the day before (the program was a consolation gift from my friend, since I couldn't go)
  • the program from the assembly in which I was inducted into the Natinoal (Junior, I think) Honor Society
  • several awards from school, around 1993-4
  • folders of old schoolwork, in French, Music, and History, among others
  • a folder of "Printed Stuff" that held the user manual to "The Print Shop Companion"
  • birthday cards from years past
  • a Sweet Pickles book (Stork Spills the Beans, if you must know)
  • several little plastic things that go in the center of a 45 record to enable it to be played on a regular turntable
  • a slew of random stamps from random countries
  • posters of Danzig, Testament, and Anthrax (pre-John Bush)
  • the half of the Taladas box set that I have considered missing from my collection for about 13-14 years now (I *know* I left the Rule Book to Taladas at school, right before I quit going.)
Needless to say, this has me speechless. There are litle knickknacks in here that I would never have voluntarily separated from, things I found interestingly curious, and stuff I didn't know had been kept.

Most notable is the D&D supplement. That was DEFINITELY left at school, because there's no way I would have put it at the bottom of a box of stuff. I love my D&D stuff too much to do that. This means that someone came by from school, and dropped off the things that were in my locker. I cannot tell you how floored I am at this find. I will post some pictures of some of the more unusual stuff later. For now, I have to get to sleep. I just had to share this with someone. :)

All this aside, I found the book I went in search of, and I hope to get the information I need read and integrated into my campaign ASAP.

(Also, I preordered the Ptolus campaign setting from Malhavoc Press. I received the freebie "Player's Guide to Ptolus" 5-pack... twice. Yes, I got 10 copies of it for some reason, and no, I didn't get charged for two of the books. The setting looks fantastic so far, though. I plan on sharing the extras with folks I know, and perhaps dropping one off at my local game/comic store, too..)
