So.. Despite my desire to buckle down and post more often, I actually post LESS often. *sigh* Well, things have been rather sedentary, though. I've not read in The Purpose Driven Life since my last post, which is something I am going to remedy as soon as I finish this post. Kicking, screaming, or crying, I'm going to finish it this time, because I want to, and that's that.
In other news, I hung out with
nyminal last Saturday, talking about Shadowrun. It was really an uneventful day, aside from
strieson calling with bad news: He'd had to put his dog (12 years old) to sleep. Sadly, since I've never had a pet that much, and certainly not that long, I don't know how to make him feel better. Since I had nothing I felt that I could say that would work, I bought him another month of WoW, so that he at least had other people to talk to, and something to get his mind off of it.
Speaking of WoW, i got my Tauren druid to level 38, and have begun the process of saving up for my mount at 40. Warlocks and Paladins, you don't know how good you have it. Happily, my potions sell well on the auction house, so I'm gonna begin making sure I have some potions going on at all times. Also, as of last night, I am now an Artisan Alchemist. My skill is only 226 now, but nothing's between me and 300, but the potions I'll have to make. Herbalism is already at Artisan level. This really reinjects fun into this character. I'm also one of the second-in-command officers in my guild, and people are beginning to recognize me when I sign on. My biggest issue involving WoW right now? (Well, there are two.) The farmers who run around, collecting herbs from the world, only to sell them. I can't find what I need in the wild, so I have to buy from them. Second, should I get a brown or grey kodo as my mount? :)
OH! I just thought of a third. I am going to need at least 10 or more gold MORE than my mount, because at 40 is when I pick up: new level of Rejuvenation, new level of Mark of the Wild, new level of Moonfire, Hurricane, new Reibirth, and my Dire Bear form. Lotsa goodies. I can't wait!!
In other news, I've picked up, and am halfway through, Robert Jordan's Knife of Dreams. I know I'd written him off, but that's the whore I am. :-P So far, the "Stuf that's happening" that was promised by those who've already read it is really delivering. This one is DAMN good. I got excited about a part of it that I realized was the first time I had been so since the end of Winter's Heart (before that, it was in Lord of Chaos). Events are beginning to progress, and I couldn't be happier. We'll see if he only needs one more book, or two, to finish the series. (Something tells me two, since 13 is the optimal number of One Power channelers in a circle.)
Also, this past Tuesday, I got George R. R. Martin's A Feast For Crows. Book Four in A Song of Ice and Fire, I can't wait to begin reading this one. Man.. new Rowling, Martin, and Jordan in one year? This kicks ass.
I also finally got my pre-ordered, signed-by GRRM and numbered, deluxe limited editioin copy of the "A Game of Thrones" RPG. This book is fat enough to be a textbook, and beautiful enough to be a bible. The cover is a faux-leather that has that "puffy fancy book" feel of the nice leather-bound books. The pages are silver-trimmed (as in, if you hold the pages together, and look at their sides, it's silver). There's even a cloth bookmark bound into the book! The cover also has a dustjacket that features a more traditional RPG book cover, but the real cover is gorgeous. The faux-leather is a dark red, and a wolf silhouette is done in silver on the front, while the spine simply says "A Game of Thrones". The fact that GRRM signed this personallly is just gravy. I would have happily bought this without the signature. Of course, now I want to buy either the d20 or Tri-Stat version of the book (both systems are covered in the limited edition) so that I don't hurt this one. :)
Well, today is Dragonlance game day, and I have to get ready for it. Unlike the last session, I plan to actually run this time. (Last time, I was in a bad mood, and decided to cancel it, and felt crappy the whole day.) This time I'm rested, though, and I've eaten a good breakfast. Also, the Jordan I've been reading is reinvigorating my imagination. :) For the NEXT session (after this), I am going to come up with a list of names to use on the fly, and I'm going to borrow horribly from RJ and GRRM. :)
Goodbye, folks. May you find water and shade.
