Yesterday was nice, because Aron was in town for the weekend. So, he and I ran around the city, doing little "spending" errands. At one point, he stopped, and asked me, "So, how much *do* iPods run?"

Grinning, since he was finally caving, I explained the pricing structure to him, and to Best Buy we went. He picked up the 1GB iPod Shuffle, a rather nice little gadget if ever I saw one. He also snagged the power adapter, since he isn't going to be near a computer until he goes back home to PA. (He and Rick are working in Little Rock, AR, right now.)

We came home, plugged it in, made sure it was set up, and added songs. Then, we disconnected it, and hooked it to the power adapter to charge.

Three hours later, it still hadn't charged a lick. I began to try all sorts of things. I updated the firmware. I restored to factory settings. I tested the power adapter (which worked with my iPod). I began to search through Apple's site, as well as their iPod Shuffle forum, to see if there was an answer. The only thing I kept seeing was "if it doesn't work, and you've tried all the things on the site, send it in to be fixed."

To. Hell. With. That.

It's going back to Best Buy tomorrow, where my brother will get credit for it, and then we'll trek to the OTHER Best Buy. Hopefully, they'll have one he can get, and we can get it charged properly, before he has to leave out of here at 6pm. I'm going to be very upset if we can't get it set up for him in time, since it hurts to see how disappoointed he is that the one he has now isn't working, and I know how much he'd like to have it to listen to while working.

I'm going to ask to leave work early today, just so I have a better chance of accomplishing this.

As a result, I'm going to miss today's Traveller d20 game that [livejournal.com profile] nyminal is running, but this is my brother we're talking about. They'll live. (Though I think that [livejournal.com profile] strieson needed a ride home after it was over. I may wind up running over there, just to give him a ride home, since I'd already said I would.)

Well, time's a-wastin', so I better be runnin'.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that 1) the iPod's serial number had been registered back in April [how, when it was new? Hmm..], and 2) it had a name already (aside from "So-and-So's iPod". [I don't know HOW I managed to miss something so obvious, either.]
