Work was messy, since they didn't schedule a 6am checker, but I made it through. Heck, I handled the day rather well.

So, after work, I picked up the Superman box set. I'm glad I did. I *love* those movies. Superman was as good as I remember it. Better, really, since I recognize and relate to more of the story than I did when I was little. For example, I thought "Miss Teschmacher" was particularly good-looking, in a 70s way. :) (Who knew that she was 35 when Superman came out?!)

I still have the other three to watch, and I've never even seen Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.

Is it just me, or is thiere something stirring about hearing the Superman theme by John Williams playing, and seeing him fly across the screen, doing something heroic? Fantastic movie. Shame I have no icon for it (yet).

I dislike Best Buy. Oh, I've bought plenty from them in the past, but I'm having to really think about it now. You see, I went to Best Buy last night. I picked up some DVDs, and paid via my debit card. By this, I mean I entered my PIN so that it would come immediately out of my account, instead of sitting in a holding pattern for a couple of days. I detest that. So anyway, I paid for my purchase, and left. I swung by Barnes & Noble, shook my head at the state of fantasy literature these days (and its proliferation of epic-series-made-up-of-more-than-five-books), and came home.

I ordered pizza, and went to check my balance online. Oh, this was not cool. In my account -- as in, already processed and WITHDRAWN from my account -- was my Best Buy purchase. Once. Twice. Three times. Immediately after this was a credit once. So it was obvious to me that it was halfway caught. The interesting thing is that the credit has the same timestamp as the debits, thus it withdrew, and then credited, in the same transaction. I called Best Buy, had to sit on the phone for literally 3 minutes while it rang (after I chose the right department) and explained my problem. The clerk just nonchalantly rattled off something about it sometimes allocating the funds, but not withdrawing them. I reiterated what my problem was, and she put me on hold. Someone different picked up, and I explained the problem again. This one repeated the same thing: "It's a problem with your bank. You'll need to contact them." When I protested, she said that the only thing I could do at this point was call 1-888-BEST-BUY, or contact my bank. I sat, stunned at this, and she asked if there was anything else she could help me with.

Uh, how about why I called? I hung up on her, and called 1-888-BEST-BUY. That lady was not much more help, but she actually sounded like she cared (sort of). I was mollified, even if I was unhappy still. So, I let it go, watched Superman, and then went to bed.

I called my bank this morning, and -- surprise, surprise! -- they told me that I would have to contact Best Buy, because THE DEBITS HAD CLEARED MY ACCOUNT. The clerk at my bank told me to call her back if Best Buy wouldn't correct the problem. So, now I'm going to be late for work, and I have to go deal with those assboils again. I'm not going to THAT Best Buy again. Heck, a friend of mine told me that this wasn't the first time she's heard of something like that happening. Perhaps I will just start taking cash from now on. They can't double- or triple-charge me on that, can they?
