First of all, Happy Birthday to all those January folks I missed:
fallenfromgrace,
daleduke17,
kimiden, and
rawee1, at the very least.
Secondly, I had a fun time with the telescope tonight. I was able to make Saturn large enough to easily make out the rings, and a yellow filter let me fainly see the cloud bands. Awesome. I also easily picked out the four stars located in the center of the Orion Nebula. And don't get me started on the moon. With the polarizing filter, the equatorial mount, and a range of eyepieces, I was picking out craters on the surface that I had never seen before, and tracking the moon easily. Quite a lot of fun.
Of course, it got too cold, even with layers of clothes on. The part of me that froze first? Ironically, my toes. Even though I was wearing two pairs of socks and a pair of boots, the boots were steel toe. Can you believe that they really did begin to freeze over? I never would have thought that possible. So, we came in. I watched some FLCL, and decided that the show is insane, but fun to watch. Adam lent me his collections of both Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. I plan to settle down and watch those sometime soon.
I've tried to read Day 7, and I just don't have the urge tonight. :( I'll pick it back up, and try again, but I think I should just go to bed tonight. Obviously something is bothering me enough that I cannot concentrate. Oh well. :(
Oh, and Nightwish's "Once" album is metal at its best. I've had the album since shortly after it came out, but the songs really leap out at you when you read the lyrics, especially "Nemo", "Ghost Love Score", "Dead Gardens", "Romanticide", and "Higher than Hope". Great songs all, though. (If you haven't, pick up the digipak release of the "Nemo" single for the B-side track, "Live to Tell the Tale". This is one of the greatest songs they've ever done. Just like "Lagoon" (B-Side on "Bless the Child"), their gems are hidden on non-album releases.
