Whether I needed to survive through the pre-holiday shopping or not, I made it. For that, I'm mildly thankful. While I do have to go back tomorrow, at least I'll be working upstairs, right? (I sure hope so, anyway.)
Work was fast-paced today, and I kept up, at least before lunch. I did everything in my power to have an answer or take care of whatever the manager asked. I'm not sucking up, so you can forget that, but I wouldn't rule out being mildly infatuated* with her. She *IS* pretty, and she exudes so much confidence and self-assurance that you can't help but feel relaxed around her. That's not to say that she won't get on your case if it needs it. (Which I consider damn good..) But I digress..
I had lunch in the accounting room, since our armed courier hadn't shown yet. Unfortunately, eating quickly in accounting wound up upsetting my stomach, and I felt less-than-stellar the rest of the afternoon. We got the sales figures fixed from earlier in the week. Get this: one of our supervisors could refund stuff, but not tender negative transactions [i.e., give money back]. That made no sense to us, either, and it explains why we were so short earlier in the week, and now over. *sigh* I hope things are okay before the week finishes. I don't want to learn what our manager sounds like when she's disappointed/loading a gun with my name on it.
Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, and Scott and I are going to Charles' place to have a cookout. In true last minute fashion, we're going shopping when we get together tomorrow, instead of being ready ahead of time. Spontaneity is the order of the day. I imagine we'll have some bratwursts, beer, hamburgers, beer, chips, beer, baked beans, beer, fireworks, and uhm, probably beer. Did I mention that I'm crashing at Charles' that night? I don't know how lit I am going to get (if at all), but I see no reason to go anywhere, since we're ALL off on Monday. I'll just pack an overnight bag, and be ready to clean up on Monday morning. :) Huzzah!
For now, I'm going to waste time until I realize I should have gone to bed far earlier than I do. I'd say something about going to bed early, but I never do. I'd mention that I'd read some of either my current novel (Knight Life, by Peter David), my Eberron Campaign Setting, or some other random book (Comquer Your Critical Inner Voice, The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries, or Wiccan Beliefs and Practices**), but I'll probably sit at my computer, and bounce from web page to web page. (I hope not, but precedence has a place for a reason. :) )
Oh, and sorry I missed you,
rafaela. I was making and eating dinner, and you were gone by the time I got back to the computer. Silly me, I chose to "socialize" with my brothers while making dinner, instead of ignoring it to just this side of burned. :)
* - Honestly, I think that this is an understatement, but I understand about the taboo involving manager/employee relationships, so it's just a crush. (Though I'm pretty darn sure she's married anyway!)
** - Please, please, PLEASE don't try to "enlighten" me. I know what I'm reading, and I'm a big boy. The world is a big place, and there are a variety of subjects filed away in it. This is one I chose, for the moment, to learn how people "outside the box" think. Besides, we're all different for a reason. *wink*
