Well, the first session of Eberron is over, and things seem to be going pretty well. First, Mike showed up for the first time in aeons, and wound up playing a Warforged Artificer named "Bucket" (for the bucket that the warforged wore on his head). Rick was still a no-call, no-show for the second week running. (Heck, we haven't heard from him at all since like Wednesday of two weeks ago.) Stephen couldn't make it - family obligations. (I totally understand, man. Hope to see you next week. You're missing out on some crazy-go-nuts fun!)
Things went well. I got everyone to Sharn without too much twisting or railroading (aside from the Lightning Rail, hehe). Rodney settled on a neutral dwarven cleric of the Sovereign Host. Scott wound up playing a Valenar elf wielding his race's weapon: the Valenar Double Scimitar*.
They found a place to eat called "The Bar" (with an image of an I-Beam behind the script). Next door, they found lodging at "The Inn." Yeah, kinda plain names, but in a world with all sorts of fancy names, there's gotta be something to a place being called "THE _____" ya know? :)
I ran them through the adventure in the back of the book, though I let an adventure hook slip out for another situation, and nearly had to run that instead. Fortunately, I didn't. In the major combat of the night, I critted on Brad AND Aron, dropping them both to negative HPs. Neither stabilized, but the cleric saved them. I could have fudged the rolls, but the brush with death seems to have changed their outlook, and will wind up being a positive force, instead of crippling the characters.
Tomorrow, though, I have my work cut out for me. When I was leaving, I picked up my case of D&D miniatures. The lid wasn't locked shut, and they spilled out, some landing among Brad's minis. So, I get to go through my minis one by one, and figure out which ones I'm missing, and which ones of Brad's I have erroneously. *sigh*
For now, I'm going to sleep.. I'm totally beat. Thank goodness that I'm off until Thursday. :)
* - Think two-bladed sword, but cooler. WAY cooler.
