EDIT: For some reason, LiveJournal.com has decided to die, and I cannot post this when I originally finished it. [May 17, 2004, at 8:46pm]
EDIT 2: I'm on the cluster that died. I've never been part of things like that before. Wow.
Okay, so I have been noticably absent from here lately. I can assure you that it's not because I've suddenly developed a personal life. I have just gotten "out of the habit" of posting, and don't think of it like I should. Also, I just haven't felt like posting the intricacies of my life lately.
I'm going to begin with Friday, since that's as good a starting point as any. I hung out over at Charles' again, and Scott was supposedly going to run the D&D game. During the day, I had given serious thought to seventeen different race/class combinations. I swung by Schnuck's, where I ran into Jay*, and then had dinner with Scott, Charles, and Melissa. Afterward, while Scott began running them in the game, I gave thought to what I would want to play. I was in the mood for something unusual, since I have done a paladin and an archer.**
I couldn't decide. I thought about a Fire Genasi Soulknife, who manifests his blade as a blade of fire (appearance only), but didn't have stats on genasi. I gave thought to a Monk/Cleric of Ilmater, but decided against it when I realized I wanted to do something unusual. I finally just said that I would wait to do it during the week.
Scott closed the game soon after starting, and he and Charles began to play Ace Combat 4 on Chuck's PS2. I went and played darts with Melissa, who was feeling ignored by her husband. We wound up playing a couple of games, and then shifting to playing Jenga. We played it as a normal game, though it was the "Truth or Dare" version. Inevitably, though, we wound up answering truths and playing dares as we felt like it. No pressure, and lots of fun. :) Eventually, Charles went to bed, and Scott, Melissa, and I played one last game of Jenga before calling it a night.
I wish I could call Saturday uneventful, but I had a flareup of my termite problem again. Fortunately, I learned quickly where they were coming from, and was able to keep most of them out, though it was a nonstop fight for an hour or better. I took a shower, and collapsed into bed, exhausted.
Sunday, though, was pretty cool. I got to work late, only to find out that I was scheduled to be there two hours earlier. (I couldn't think of a reason why I would have to be there at 3am under normal circumstances.) I got to work, and found out that the Perishable and Drug/GM managers for the Zone (who are right under the Zone Manager), wanted it set up and going from my store beginning Sunday.
So, I got my stuff done, and began to work on that. The snag was that they never told the lady who USED to do it, so she was at her store, doing the reports. Since everyone but the two people who trained to do the report had sent in their recaps, she called us to find out. That's when we both learned what was going on. She wasn't happy, nor was I, since I don't like being caught unaware. Regardless, I got to work on the spreadsheet anyway, and the job I did impressed the two managers who came in to check things out. I felt very good about that. I showed them that I understand HOW the spreadsheet gets its totals, not just where the figures go, and that really impressed them.
I came home feeling good, and got my stuff together for the game. In the last session, Aron's Githzerai Rogue/Monk, and Scott's Drow Swashbuckler/Rogue both died. So, Aron brought in a Human Paladin of Freedom/Sorcerer, and Scott brought in his character. I have decided that I want to let people do ANYTHING they want in this stuff, simply to get it out of their system before we try to play Eberron. So, Scott, knowing Aron's paladin, played a CE Drow Wizard/Cleric of Lolth. It was a disaster, mainly because Aron never acted on the "plainly evil without denying it" drow, and so grew to hate his character.
After we ended (we did finish the adventure), Scott and Rick left. For some reason, though, Brad, Aron, Rodney and I sat around until 3am. In that time, we created random charts for races and classes, and randomly determined the gestalt character combinations that they would play next. Among the more memorable were Rodney's Half-Fiend Aasimar Psion/Bard, the numerous Gnomes for race and Wilders for class, and Brad hating almost everything that he rolled. In the end, I agreed to let Brad play a Nymph Sorcerer. He's basically stuck with only seven levels of sorcerer, though, since the LA for nymphs is +7. I'm not terribly worried about rules, mind you. The purpose here is to have fun.
Today, Aron came upon an idea that he is going to follow through with: Fey'ri Fighter/Hexblade. Should be interesting. Scott's playing a human fighter/rogue who, I kid you not, he's named "Darvin Evenwood, Jr." *rolls eyes*
Well, I'm going to get some sleep, before I really sink into my abyss of anger, which has been building today. I just need sleep, I know, but I have to sit my ass down and do so, you know?
Oh yeah, lest I forget completely... Welcome back,
_eliseth_.
And I cannor forget Stephen. Happy belated birthday,
lordreaibn.
* - Jay is one of my oldest friends, and I last saw him at Charles' and Melissa's wedding, back in February. I hate growing up for that reason alone. You and your friends, by necessity, wind up never communicating.
** - Both of whom are currently stuck in a not-going-anywhere campaign. I have to get them out of there, or I'll never get to play them again. I have always looked at the games the characters play in as parts of that character's ongoing story, so I have to come up with a plausible way to get them from where I last left them to where I pick them back up. Alternate realities suck ass. Period.
