...in a galaxy far, far away...
Wait. That's not right, is it? Anyway, lame introductions aside, today's been pretty good. I slept until 5am, which gave me 7 hours of sleep. I managed to get to work 4 minutes early, AND I was able to get a cappuccino from Exxon. Mmm... French Vanilla, with more French Vanilla creamer. Oh yeah. Ahem, anyway.. Things went pretty smoothly, until 8am, when I had to open Guest Care.
Why is it that, no matter how hard I try, things blow up in my face? Today, it was simple, and seemingly innocuous: I had to look for a lost till. I had to fax 12 pages for someone. I had to do a price check. These three things aligned themselves, and conspired to make my life as miserable as possible. It took enough time away from my paperwork before 8am this morning that, even though I didn't know it at the time, I wasn't done at 8am.
I then had to put out Guest Care, because someone was up there. I took care of them quickly, and ran to get U-Scan open. Wouldn't you know it? U-Scan tried to die on me. One lane wouldn't accept currency in test mode. Then I couldn't put the currency in the cashier station's till, because the drawer wouldn't open.* I stuck the money in the till slot on the drawer, and ran to deal with Guest Care. By now, my mood is as south as it can get, and me not suffer a heart attack. I was one step from losing control of my emotions.
Fortunately, I figured out what was wrong with the printer, got U-Scan opened, and ran to break. That was the best 15 minutes I've ever had.** I finished handling Guest Care until Annie showed up at 11am, and then went to lunch.
I came back from lunch to learn that the Tennessee Lottery, great institution it is***, added two more scratch-off games. This brings the total of them up to 18. How much is enough, folks? Too many, and no one will want to buy some of them, and we'll get left holding the bag.
Aside from that, though, the day finished out pretty well. I made it home in one piece, and actually had most of my sanity to show for it. Weirdness abounds, it seems. Now, I'm going to see about making Rick's character for Sunday, a gestalt wizard/psion. Frankly, though, knowing that he just likes to kill stuff, I might see what I can do about making a barbarian/psion, since kineticists seem so much better at blowing stuff up (they can scale their booms based on how many points they want to spend).
I'll do two, and let him choose. Hehehe..

whome_cx: If this happens to you, make sure that the receipt tape for the cashier station isn't (nearly) empty. Apparently, the drawer is tied to the printer, and being low will prevent the drawer from opening. Screwy, ain't it?
** - I don't know why, but something in the back of my mind just said, "Wait for it, you'll see..." Weird.
*** - This is sarcasm, folks.
