Today, October 9, something very important happened in Memphsi. No, I'm not talking about the elections. Trilogy Tuesday tickets went on sale at the Malco Paradiso theatre at noon.
I was so psyched up about this that I rushed through getting ready for work, so that I left at 520am. This gave me enough time to swing by Krystal to get breakfast. It's the only thing serving breakfast at 530am, but their Sunrisers rock. (For you yankees, it's sausage, egg, and cheese on what amounts to a White Castle bun.) At any rate, I still went slow, though I kept at things as quickly as possible. I've been going slower ever since the CD player in the back quit playing CDs. I didn't realize my music helped me that much. I think a replacement unit is not too far in the future. But, I digress..
At 1144am, I clocked out for lunch. I hit the ATM to withdraw enough for the tickets and the planned trip to Hooter's tonight, and left. I blazed a path directly to the Paradiso theatre, about 15 minutes away. I arrived, and walked inside, wondering where the line was. Surprise! It was inside. I grinned sheepishly at those already in line, and took my place at the back.
The guy ahead of me mused that he didn't expect this kind of line. I chatted with him for a couple of minutes, until I realized he was just there for a regular movie. Those who were not getting LOTR tickets could go up and buy their immediately. I moved up, and talked to the next guy, who was waiting to buy tickets. We didn't say a whole lot. Just chatted about how we found out, and he mentioned that he had told his wife that they would have to talk someone at some theatre into doing a marathon of them. And along comes this.. :)
At 1214pm, CDT, I picked up five tickets for "Trilogy Tuesday". I prefer to call it "The Middle-Earth Marathon", but they didn't ask me. Those with tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime event are
makeshift_guru,
mfsfreak,
lordreaibn, my brother Adam, and me.
I got home around 330pm. I gelled for a bit, and then decided to check Malco's website about the show, to see how fast tickets were selling.
At 430pm, it was already sold out.
All of those who are going because of me can thank me with lots of cash. :) (Or, at least pay for your ticket. That should help.)
Now that I have tickets, I have to wonder, will we be allowed to leave the theatre to get food during intermissions? Do we have to subsist on popcorn, coke, and Junior Mints? At any rate, I'll deal with it. :) Frankly, I'm thinking about trying to fast, just so I don't miss any of the movies. (600 minutes of running time = good chance of a potty break being necessitated) Yeah, I'm a geek. :)
Oh, if anyone wants their ticket, I want the money before you get it. I'm not going to be out $25 because YOU lost your ticket. Anyway. :) I'd still like to get the money sometime before December 16, though. :)

Now, to hold onto these tickets for the next two months. I'm going to detail in here where they are, and mark it as a memory. That way, I can't forget.
They are inside the front cover of my copy of Neil Gaiman's Sandman: The Dream Hunters. It is in my computer hutch to my left.
