Well, I suppose I am not terribly surprised. After all, today was kinda fun.
Work was, as usual, nothing to write home about. Despite my best efforts to leave on time, I stil didn't get out until after getting another quarter hour of overtime. I finally tried some Yoplait Whips. like
rawee1 so kindly suggested. Thank you! They're great!
I stopped by Comic Cellar on the way home, and got my things. Three whole comic books. Yay. However, I have added an unconventional item to my list: the CrossGen Traveller edition Trade paperbacks of Meridian, Mystic, and Sojourn. $10 for 6+ issues of a high-quality comic book? That can't be beat. ;) Of course, I'm behind in reading my trades, but I always find a way to read them. (I think that the second Meridian book, which I got today, is next on THAT list.)
While I was there, I mentioned that Warlord intrigued me. Jason, true to form, dug out two starter decks (the shrinkwrapped give-away kind), and gave them to me. He also gave me a couple of issues of the game's magazine. The interesting thing about Warlord as a CCG is that most of its mechanics function on the framwork of the d20 RPG. You roll for initiative to determine who goes first each round, character cards have attack bonuses and armor classes. It's a very well thought out game. I'll have to play Aron a few games while I'm sitting around, dealing with Orkin.
I got home, and for some reason, I and both of my brothers wound up hanging out this evening. It was neat. We made dinner (my mom is visiting my aunt), and then we watched the ORIGINAL version of Star Wars. I forgot exactly how much I love that movie. I liked the stuff they added to the special editoins (for the most part), but the true original is so amazing. I'm going to suggest we watch Empire Strikes Back next. :)
After the movie, I laid down to read A Clash of Kings a little bit before going to sleep. Instead, I finished that book, got ready for the next one, and decided to do an LJ update. This series is getting better and better. If you haven't read it yet, then you owe it to yourself to pick this series up!!!!!
Finally, a bit of RPG news. First, I'm going to fix the final encounter to be suitably heroic before I go to bed. Second, I don't know what I want to play in Brad's soon-to-be-starting Monday night Star Wars RPG. I think that I am going to have to work out something, and do a complete history before creating the character. Brad gave us 28 points to spend, using the RPGA character creation system.
For now, I have to make this last encounter something to talk about for weeks to come. I hope I can do it. :)
