I guess I know how. I just needed a catchy title. Or something.

Today started well enough. Heck, it's gone pretty well over all. First, I went to work, where my morning went pretty smoothly, except for one minor thing. We have a new checker first thing in the morning on Mondays and Wednesdays. She is a 20+ year employee of Kroger, but she hasn't worked on a register in 15 years. It appears that management had nothing for her to work, so she's checking now. Neat. She's a nice person, and, from this morning, a fast learner. However, I still had to go out there a lot. But, as I said, it wasn't a big deal. Everyone showed up for their shifts, which was good, since I was having trouble with the monies in the office. Joyce showed up, and she verified my count. I was right, which meant some thief took money from U-Scan. *grumble*

For once, I didn't feel like busting my ass trying to get things done. So, I sat there in the back and talked to Joyce most of the morning. I did get some important work done while I did, but the nice thing is that I didn't have to check or do anything in front of customers. Ahh. I went to lunch around 11am, and read more in The Tower on the Rift, Book 2 of The View from the Mirror, by Ian Irvine. I do love this series. It's engrossing. Interesting point: Book 2 contained a synopsis(!) of the first book, in case you didn't have it, but wanted to know the story.

Work finished pretty uneventfully. Starr was there today. She's a real cutie, but given that she's black, I doubt that we'd be able to pursue anything. (I know I could, but every time I think of an interracial relationship, I think about the problems. Pessimistic, I know, but that's Capricorns for ya.) Anyway, it was after work that the real fun began.

I went over to Kevin's parents house. His mom asked me to do my yearly tradition of hanging up their Christmas lights for them. I got there, and there were new Christmas lights: five strands of blue icicle lights, to be precise. Well, after much digging out of the ladder, and deciding that we didn't have enough lights to do the eaves, we settled for a place about 8 feet up that also worked for lights. Around 4pm, we went inside and made a star out of some old coat hangers. Around 6pm, everything was finally hung and where she wanted it.

I came inside, and played Pop in three games of pool. I lost the first due to scratching on the Eight Ball. I won the second, and Pop lost the third by scratching on his Eight Ball . I ate a good dinner that involved green beans, mashed potatoes, pork chops, and cornbread. After all that, it was after 730pm, and I came home to get some "rest." Instead, I had to update my LJ. :)
