Well. tonight went well. There were all of - *thinks* - two encounters, but there was a lot of fun had by all.

The last session (the as yet unposted Session 1) ended immediately following a goblin attack. Thomas.. wait a minute.. You don't know the players? Here:

Stephen ([livejournal.com profile] lordreaibn) - Thomas Daenar - CN Male Human Fighter/Cleric of Garagos
Aron (my brother) - Lorcan - N Male Elven Wizard (Necromancer)
Scott (friend) - Steiner - CN Male Human Fighter
Rick (old friend) - Zann Questkeeper - CN Female Planar Elven Rogue

Thomas was criticall injured, and close to death. Following the attack, a rain storm swept in, and the party had to take shelter in a cave nearby. They found (because Stephen had no yet become a cleric, and because he was unconscious) a small cache of magic healing potions. After everyone dosed themselves up to a good amount of health, a wandering orc gang found them. Just as they were dispatching the orcs, the owlbear who owned the cave got back, and proceeded to try to mow its way through the party. Surprisingly, or not, Thomas mowed right back! When it counted, he managed to roll a critical hit on the owlbear. (Now that the game's over for the week, I can say that Thomas was personally responsible for 80% of the damage to the owlbear.

After the enounter, they made it to the hamlet of Loch-Durnan. Its gold mines are beset by goblins, and the townsfolk are hiring the adventurers to clear out the mine.

They were received well, ate well, slept well, and sent off with a hero's sendoff. (There was grumbling about how many times this had happened, and how many adventurers were already in the pit, but I pointed out that if there were more than them, then would the town turn out to wish them well? They didn't think so, either.

No sooner were they down in the pit, than they were attacked by.... yeah, goblins. It didn't take them long to get through them. We probably would have kept going, but alas, it's Sunday, and I have work Monday morning at 5am. Everyone leveled during the session, which is as I wanted. Now, things are going to get funky. :) *evil cackle*

Oh, and Rick was not there this week. It seems that his wife/girlfriend (I can't get a straight answer to this question - don't ask) was busy having their first child. I wish they all the best, and congratulations!

Since it's Sunday, the highlight of the day *IS* the game. Sorry, folks. Of course, perhaps you actually WANT to read about the (mis)adventures of Thomas & Co. :) At any rate, it was a blast for me today. I'm back into DMing, and having fun at it. I wasn't for a while. A friend of mine got too nit-picky, and I was trying to run two games, and it got to me. Can you guess that I can't handle stress too well?

Sunday at work went normally enough. I took longer to finish than normal, so I wasn't done until 1030am. (For the uninitiated, I work at Kroger, a local grocery store. On Sunday mornings, I come in and run the end of week, resetting things for a new week of sales. After that, I head upstairs to get the all the employees' times ready and uploaded to payroll, which has to be done by 10am.) After that, I managed to be busy and help, without committing to anything too stressful. Heh, go me! :)

After picking my brother up, I checked LJ, and found that not a lot has happened. Before I can decide to post, though, Stephen called and said he's on his way. Cool.

Oh! We went to Burger King to get something to eat. We went to the Burger King on Summer Avenue in Memphis, TN. Do NOT go to this restaurant!! I waited over 10 minutes for a simple burger and fries combo, while watching the girl who took our order do anything but get it ready. (She walked back and forth around the front area, and went over to the drive-thru to talk to that girl.) The guy who made the burgers had to come around and put the order together. Sheesh. I wanna stress, though, that this is just the latest in a series of things this place manages to do. Sad, really, since they are about half a mile from my house.

Such is life, right? :) Oh well.. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
Good night, and God bless..

.. to [livejournal.com profile] lordreaibn, who is probably, at this minute, planning on blowing up my LJ with comments. Hi, Stephen! :)
