Thoughts and reflections,,,

*shrug* I wanted a catchy title. I got it. Now, about where I've been:

This week has been busy for me. I've bought most of the materials to put up my shelves around my ceiling. I bought a white five-blade ceiling fan, complete with light kit. I even installed it. Given that I know nothing about electrical work, this is rather impressive. Of course, my dad supervised, so that helped. Today, the air conditioner I ordered for my room came in, so I spent this afternoon installing that. It's in my window now, and looks lovely, although it's now too cold outside to test the cooling feature. *snicker* That's how life works, though. At least I have everything ready for that first 80 degree day. (I HATE sweating. Period. I hate extreme cold, but nothing like I hate heat.*

Work has been pretty crappy all week. I was told, once again, that someone has to be picked to be my backup on Sunday, so that I can have a Sunday off from time to time, so that I can go on vacation, and (get this) so that they can schedule me to do other things!? Am I paranoid, or does it sound like I would probably never see a Sunday morning ever again:? I mentioned this to Joyce. I even said that I was probably just being silly because it would be changing up my routine. Her response? "Lindley's been shaking up everyone who has a set schedule." I commented on that regarding the fact that no one else can do what I'm doing right now (open the accounting office). She then told me that I had it pretty "cushy" as far as schedules. Cushy?! What?! It may not be ass-poundingly busy like it gets at night, but my shifts are rarely cushy. I am going from one thing right on to the next. I take my lunch around 10am, but that's in part because I don't have time to slow down until then. Fine. Whatever. Be that way.

I was talking to Kevin tonight, and I learned something shocking: I've been asked to be his Best Man. I'm going to be the one who throws the bachelor party. I get to give a bloody speech at the reception. I get to do who knows what else. Neat. As they say: Power Corrupts. Absolute Power is kinda neat. :) Oh, and I get to wear a tux again. I suppose I'll also want a costume for later. (Assuming I don't feel like I'm violating the holiday by parading around in one.)

Finally, for those not on [livejournal.com profile] oceanborn. the Nightwish LJ community: Nightwish is coming to America (specifically, Atlanta, GA) this September!!! YES!!!! Now, I have one problem. I have no one to go with me, and on a trip like that, I'd like some company, since I'm a coward to drive that far on my own. Secret Sphere, Symphony X, and Circle II Circle are playing, too. This will be so cool.

Anyone want to carpool? *smile*

That more or less catches everyone up on my life so far this week. I'm sure that if I had typed it up while it happened, I'd have had more to say, but I was beat. So, live with it. :)

Then consider me the queen of Heat Haters.

I DESPISE the heat. I really do. Anything ovwer 75 degrees farenheit is far too warm for me and I refuse to go out in it a lot of the times, and if I do, I tend to bitch about it incessantly. I have friends that can vouch for me on this. I can't stand it.

COLD, on the other hand... I love. Not necessarily the kind of cold we get up here sometimes, the 0 degrees with a -15 degree wind chill... But I'd take it over the hot hot sun any day. I'm not particularly fond of cold wind, though, as I have asthma and it tends to beat my lungs up to the point where I can't breathe at all.

As for the Nightwish thing... Only Atlanta? :( No way in hell my parents'll let me go down there for a concert... Meh. I shall have to hold out for a New York show! However long I have to wait. It's all good. I can wait!

Wow. You really *DO* hate the heat. :)

Yeah, it's only Atlanta, since it's at ProgPower IV. Since it's just a festival, and such. I wish they'd do a proper US tour. That would so rule.

:D

Well, I am with you 100%! :D

Over 75 is too hot is my motto, seriously.. *grin*

Road Trip?

[identity profile] strieson.livejournal.com 2003-03-14 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
I don't much care for Nightwish. I don't hate them. But I wouldn't mind seeing them live. When is it?

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-14 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow... your reply is less than glowing. Are you prepared to deal with me ranting and raving about them the whole weekend? :) It's not until September 5-6, but tickets go on sale in May, and sold out in less than a week last year. It's actually a two-day metal music festival. There are other bands playing there, too. Nightwish is just my favorite. Symphony X and Secret Sphere will also be there.

I was going to ask you and Alex, since you guys are about the only music folks around here that I know. We'll have to see, ya know?

Count me in. If I can afford it I will go. I am sure I will be able too by then. I would love to go. That is so cool. I love music and travelling. Count me in.

Okay. Now, remember, the tickets are $90, and go on sale in early May. We'd have to pay for those tickets then. Do you think you could come up with that money on such short notice? If you're good to go, though, I am too.

sorry your work week was so crappy....

But have fun doing cool best man type things! ^_^

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-17 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, 'Hawk. My weekend made things go a little better than before for me. I think that this week will go nicely. I'm already planning on being on time all this week. I'm NOT going to buy a paper, either. (Perhaps I'll subscribe to it, so I can read it when I get home. It'll be cheaper that way, too.)

THanks about the best man thing, although I'm not sure where to begin. I better ask my bud who's been one before.

hee he hee
good plan.
if nothing else, even if you don't read them, they often come in handy for cleaning fish ^_~

Good point. Except I detest seafood. X.X;; No matter though. It's cheaper, which is the primary reason I would get a subscription.

^_^

yay!

Although we cheap people prefer the term "frugal" ^_~

Re:

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about that, 'hawk. :) Cheap is only one syllable, and takes less time to say than frugal. It's got a certain charm in its simplicity. :)

>>I'm going to be the one who throws the bachelor party.

Yay, you get to hire a stripper!

Re:

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-17 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I have no qualms about porn. However, something about going somewhere it's live, or dealing with it in a live sort of setting, bothers me. Heck, in last night's game, one of the players wanted to get a job as a bouncer at a brothel. We started doing that, and by the end of the night, I felt like I had done something wrong. My last friend to get married didn't even really have a bachelor party. It was co-ed, and they went barhopping.

Like I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm going to check with my friend who was Best Man in that wedding. He'll be able to tell me something.

Re:

[identity profile] jartravian.livejournal.com 2003-03-17 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah you're right. Girls are icky.

Seriously, I completely understand. Several times my friends have tried to get me to go to a strip club with them, and I wanted no part of it.

Re:

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-17 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno why I'm like that, either. *shrug* Maybe I have more morals. *snicker* Nah, that's not it.

[identity profile] lordreaibn.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome, man. And yes, I am. I agree with [livejournal.com profile] ocy 100%... over 75 degrees and I turn into a complaint machine.

I am ordering that a/c unit this week, although i have no idea how i am going to get my window open. It is painted shut! Hasnt been opened in about 12 years.

Re:

[identity profile] tek2way.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know you do. Sheesh, I can barely stand you when you do. (Just kidding!)

Good luck getting that AC Unit installed, man. If you need some assistance, don't forget I'm around the corner.

Uh oh.. I uhh.. have to have my teeth pulled.. YEah! That's it! :)

Seriously, if you need help, and I'm available, I'll see what I can do to help you out.

Re:

[identity profile] lordreaibn.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)

Good luck. If you need moral support, you know I'll be there. (Dangling Thomas Daenar in front of you in one hand, holding a lighter in the other, and talking about Trogdor striking again. :) )

That should get you motivated, right? :)
